State of Illinois is a Killer.

Today, I met a Couple at our local Bass Pro Shop. We were talking about self defense weapons and home defense. I was then floored by their next statements, a former Supervisor, had threatened to kill the man and his Family. The man has no FOID Card and has to wait weeks for it to be processed, therefore he can not even buy a gun or possess a gun in Illinois. Even if he did have a gun, he cannot use it in Concealed Carry Method. So he and his Family are at extreme risk, the former Supervisor is a two time convicted felon and has been seen circling the block in his car. I strongly recommended that they immediately go to the County Sheriff's Office and having an Emergency Restraining Order placed against the offender. That is the position that our Elected Officials have put us in! Defenseless against attack by a two time loser. The man could move, I know, but that is not what our founding fathers had in mind on July 4, 1776

I would borrow a shotgun from a friend at the very least.

order of protection won't do squat if someone wants to hurt you- as cops are only minutes away, it's a waste of time.

Maybe he can take the order of protection , roll it up and make a toothpaste spear ,then he can stab the perp like they do in prison..... Just a thought

It won't anything to protect you but it will serve as evidence that you were A.) in fear and B.) followed the legal protocol. It will help your case if it comes to a shooting.

That said, human beings have been defending themselves w/out guns for millenia instead of whining about what you don't have see what you do have and go from there

Nightmare45, Yes, the Restraining order, will not stop the attack from happening. The only benefit is, that if the guy does attack, you had exhausted all legal means, before you had to defend yourself/Family. This poor guy is forced to improvise defensive tools, such as Fire Extinguishers, Baseball Bats, Etc. The E.R.O., makes it a crime, to even be near you or your Family. It SUCK'S, but that is the position that our Chicago Politicians have put us in. It would be great, if the guy is on Parole and by threatening this Family, he has an automatic return to Prison. That is what should happen, otherwise...

It's ridiculous that the bureaucrats don't realize it's not protecting anyone to make it hard for law-abiding citizens to obtain a gun when criminals can obtain them easily. Until criminals have to jump through hoops to arm themselves the rest of us shouldn't have to.

And without a gun in their possession, that's going to do exactly WHAT for them? Unless it's printed on kevlar it's UTTERLY worthless. Memorize:

  • Police have no legal duty to protect individuals.
  • Police have no legal liability when they fail to protect individuals.
  • Police have virtually no physical ability to protect individuals.
If you're not willing and able to protect YOURSELF, you're just not going to get protected AT ALL. Anybody who tells you different is a LIAR.

Police don't protect individuals. Police draw chalk outlines around individuals who don't protect themselves.

Don't believe me? Google "Cracker Barrel shooting Brooklyn Ohio". I don't recall if the victims had an order of protection or not. Nobody so far has been able to explain to me how one would have made one iota of difference, absent the ability of the target to defend herself with deadly force.

just another day in chicago. when will the people wake up and rout those bastards out.
if it were mr i would get any gun i could get my hands on. legal or otherwis

There's a world of difference between not realizing and not CARING. In Illinois, the reality is the latter. They don't CARE. They either have bodyguards or like the Chicago City Council have voted THEMSELVES the right to carry.

Because they LIKE it that way. Don't believe me? Ask one.

They both hate the corrupt police AND expect them to "protect" them.

The Citizens of Illinois are held captive to the Socialist minded Politicians of Chicago. They have tried for over forty years to control a Gang Ridden part of the South and Southwest side of the City of Chicago. They do not have the sense to understand that they will never be able to control, insane, drug induced, under educated, unemployable people. Every week there is a new strategy or tech. enhanced tool to take on the ..."PROBLEM"

Deanimator, ask me, ask the people of illinoiscarry.com, ask the isra.org, ask our Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran, ask over 2 million Illinois Gun Owners. Not just the Skunks from Chitcago!

If the Offender approaches him, he can use force on him without hesitation. I suggested a Fire Extinguisher, it shoots 12-15 ft. and blocks the opponents ability to see, hear or breath. In this State, it is messed up, we need a Governor Walker, like Wisconsin.

My point is living where this gentleman lives he has no right to protect himself, know of many restraining orders that did not stop injury or death, sad living in the state of some of our greatest leaders (less one) you cannot protect yourself.

Oh God, Here we go with another police bashing session:rolleyes:. This issue is with legislation in illinois not the cops. Yes, the cops attempt to enforce the law (no matter how stupid it is) but they are not writing the law...... The problem in this instance started with the legislators not the cops!

You don't run Illinois.

Chicago does and Chicagoans DON'T want the ability to defend themselves. They want to be "protected" by the same corrupt cops who rob them.
