Okay I have heard a lot about these three guns, they all seem popular.
If you had to pick one which would it be?

Ruger SR9c
Glock 26
S&W MP9c

:triniti:

I don't own any nines, yet. I carry .40, but I love my M&P 40. I don't like Glocks because they don't fit my hand and the square grip isn't comfortable.

Try them all and see which one fits the best.

I own the Ruger SR9c (my edc) and could not be more pleased with it. I considered all the firearms mentioned, have researched them and shot all 3. They are all accurate, reliable and well made. It's a matter of trying them in the hand and seeing what fits best. You can't go wrong with any of them. I am a little bias however, being a Ruger guy since 1992.

SR9C owner here. Researched a lot of the 9's and tested all I researched. Got the Ruger SR9c and am pleased as punch. My only regret is that I didn't get it sooner. It my everyday carry in a N82tactical Pro molded holster. Eats all ammo without a hitch.

If you go with the Ruger, let me know what you think of the loaded chamber indicator!
That thing is HUGE! I could not stand it. The reason the sights are so tall is to be able to look over the LCI.

I have an M&P 9c and love it as it fits my hand extremely well. It is best if you go to your local dealer and "do a touch and feel" to see if one or two stand out. Then go to a range and rent (if you don't have buddies that don't own them) the ones that feel good to you and see how they shoot. That should help make up your mind. I have, in the past, bought a pistol based on name and cost and ended up getting rid of it because I did't like how it felt in my hand and shot. To much money for me to waste.... Anyway good luck and happy shopping.

BonnanoFamily the SR9c is one very nice gun. Quality, accurate, dependable. Looks like people realize how good it is. I'm down to 3 carry guns, the SR9c and two Bersa's. IMO it is hard to beat the SR9c.

:dirol:

I nearly voted for the Ruger SR9c because it really is a dependable and accurate firearm for less money than either the G26 or M&P9c. I eventually voted for the M&P9c, however, because it gives you 12+1 rounds (G26=10, SR9c=11) and is both accurate and reliable.

Well, in real life I bought the Glock 26 recently. Nightmare of a gunsmithing learning curve. Out of the box got the hot brass to the face. Put in a steel spring guide and the brass moved to raining on my head. Got the Apex Tactical extractor and spring and now the brass goes to 4 o'clock. Have on order an extended slide release thingie - near impossible for my ham hands to work the OEM one....and an extended slide stop thingie - for the same reason.

So Glock 26 Gen 4 AFTER spending a few hundred for upgrades. On the good side of this frustration, after making the Apex additions on a lark I popped a round off at a 100 yard target at the range...hit it right on center. Amazing/or lucky shot. So took some more shots at 100 yards and of course didn't hit the target every time but was close enough I'd be nervous if I was on the other end of the range.

That's strange....
Glocks have been my primary sidearm of choice for almost 20 years now.
Right out of the box Glock's have always proven to me to be very reliable and accurate.
I have never had a problem with hot brass hitting me in my face or head area.
I have fired many Glocks over the years and I have never had the problems that you are talking about.
Very curious.

I have a Glock 19 gen 4 that would toss the brass on the top of my head and forehead. The new 5 digit ejector helps but it still happens.

I was the same way Outlaw...until AFTER...I got brass to the face out of the box... (can't help but wonder why the tester who must have got two rounds to the face shipped the gun) I googled up brass to the face and found TWO YEARS of reports of Gen 4s throwing hot cases in the face of their owners. Then forums referred me to the new book on Glock...which helped me understand why Glock has shown no interest in correcting this unwanted feature and why Glock customer no-service acted like they'd never heard of the problem. So I decided to invest in upgrades and now own a hotrod Glock/Apex 26 Gen 4. But I believed the hype about Glock. Now I don't believe the perfection hype anymore from first hand experience. My Glock/Apex is my first and last Glock purchase.

By the way, the book is a great read.

Well, I don't own any Gen 4's.
I have a couple of Gen 2's & a few Gen 3's and they have all performed perfectly imvho.
Note to self....
Do not purchase a Gen 4 Glock.
