SR40C 9+1 & 15+1 Magazines

Only had my Ruger for a couple months, so hopefully other Ruger owners can help me out. When the magazines state 9+1 or 15+1 does that mean 9 rounds in the magazine plus one already in the chamber? If so, do you have to fill the mag, chamber a round, eject the mag, add one more round and re-insert the mag? Or, can a round be chambered before inserting the mag?

Thanks for your input.

You have to add a round to the magazine, insert the magazine, rack the slide, and then eject the magazine and load to full capacity. Don't try to drop the round down into the chamber and then slam the slide shut on it as this could supposedly damage your ejector.

And yes the +1 designation means the magazine only holds the stated number +1 in the chamber.

I always fill the magazine, chamber a round, eject the magazine refill it, and reload. To me is safer than to insert a round in the chamber by hand and releasing the slide.
