I am planning on buying a new 9mm to conceal and I recently went to the range and tried a bunch of compact 9mm guns. Out of all the ones I tried the Springfield Xds and Glock 43 stuck out to me the most. They both just felt right in my hands and I wanted to shoot these two all day. Now I'm torn between which one I want. The Xds fits one more round and comes with the extended mag which is definitely plus. I also liked the red front sight. And then with the Glock...I don't even know. There's just something about a Glock. It just felt really good and the recoil was like non-existent. I know someone just posted asking about the Glock 43 but I was hoping some of you might be able to help me decide between these two great guns.

Since I own both of these pistols, perhaps I can offer something of value. I purchased the XDs 4.0 9mm just before the Glock G43 came out. Of course, when the G43 did rear its little head, one came into my hands.

To add to your confusion, both guns shoot very well. Of the two, I like the grip texture better on the G43 than that found on the XDs. However, Talon grips can make both better. I felt that the grip texture on the XDS was a little too aggressive and the grip texture on the G43 not as aggressive as I like. I found a small grip sleeve for the G43 and that satisfied my hand for grip and girth.

Rather than go further into detail, I would like to steer you to my two reviews; one for the G43 and the other for the Springfield XDs 4.0 9mm.

I hope that they help you in your decision as to which is the right pistol for you.

For me the choice would be easy. They are both great guns, but the Glock just does not feel comfortable in my hand and does not point naturally for me.

If I was looking at these two, my choice would be the XDs.

My wife got a new S&W Bodyguard. And I got a new Glock 43. After a problem with the BG she tried my 43. Now she wants a 43 instead!

Sounds like you got a smart woman there.....

I am a new owner of a G43. I really like mine!

I carry a Glock 19 (Gen3), I offered my wife a Springfield, Ruger, Glock 43 and suggested we go try some for fit. She said no, she liked my 19 and wanted the 43 so that's what I got her.

She's been having a bit of trouble with the sights for some reason - I have no trouble at all, yet she has no problems with my 19 or a Ruger SR22 that she is generally better with than I am.

Other than being limited to 6+1 (I prefer my 15+1 and 2 spare 15s on the other side of my belt) I like the 43, with a pinky extender added. For a few extra dollars, Glock should have just supplied both mags with the extenders. Maybe they're thinking offer the choice of extender or not depending on hand and holster / container size. I'm not big, my hands are not big, but without the extender I find it a bit too small with my pinky hanging almost completely off the bottom of the mag.

I ended up buying a Pearce extender for $10 - 12 which I like more than the original Glock extender, it has the little dimples all over it where the OEM one is smooth. Better still which I have not yet bought, Strike Industries no has a pinky / mag extender that adds 2 rounds to the capacity for $12
