Springfield XD9 Subcompact

Had this gun for 4 years never a an ounce of trouble with it, This whole box of ammo wouldn't fire. The ammo maker says it's my gun. Striker isn't hitting primer hard enough.
The pic is the striker dampening spring. It's only thing I found that looked bad.
I replaced striker, striker dampening spring & striker spring.
I don't really trust this gun. But feel like striker should be hitting the primer harder?,
Anyone had this problem?

I don't know anything about the internals of this gun, but I did had a single misfire with my Glock 19 a few months back. The primer looked like your primers look like, a light primer strike. I traced it back to the aftermarket Titanium Safety Plunger I put in. It changed the timing of the firing pin safety block to the point that it was not fully out of the way when the striker fired. The firing pin was scratching up the corner of the safety plunger, thus loosing some of its energy. I put the stock safety plunger back in and the gun worked fine.

Check if anything is impeding the striker movement. Check for any wear. There shouldn't be any lubricant or gunk around the striker or in the striker channel.

First thing I would try is another brand or two of ammo. That eliminates ammo as an issue, if other brands fire .

I was told that some of the light weight rounds like the aluminum hollow points I had would not fire properly in my Springfield.

Make sure the striker channel is almost spotless. Every Xd ,XD-M and XD-s I have had are super sensitive about exes oil in the striker channel. I had what sounds like the exact same problem you have and it turned out oil in the channel. Hope that helps

The problem could be with the primers themselves. Some foreign made primers are harder than those produced here in the US. One of the reasons Taurus developed its second strike capability. And no, the ammo manufacturer isn't necessarily going to cop to using foreign made primers when you contact them.

A friend and I went target shooting the other day and each brought 3 gun. one of his was a XD9. I mentioned the problem sited here and asked if he had ever had this problem. He has fired hundreds of rounds through his and not had a problem.

Here is my professional opinion, as a former armorer and gunsmith, Ive seen striker buffer springs in much worse shape functioning perfectly, Knowing the weapon itself and seeing the variations from no hits to light hits to a couple that should have fired, give yourself the peace of mind of the replaced spring and NEVER use that JUNK ammo again. Remember, if it was the spring, ALL the primers would have shown the same type of hit. Mechanical issues repeat with identical results. Variations follow patterns, for example, a different type of hit following a round that fires, than a hit following a and fed round... This discrepancy in hits that the pic shows, is only attributable to the ammo if they are fed through the same gun. In fact if you were to carefully measure the primer seating depth, you would more than likely find they are all seated below flush and not all of them are seated to the same depth. Cheap ammo is for plinking and nothing more. Remember that point and you wont have anything to worry about.

I paid $20 a box at the time, I was taking a class that required 200 rounds. There won't be any Blazer Ammo purchased from me again

You're Welcome Scott, Blazer is cheap ammo, was designed as cheap ammo and I don't blame you for trying to save some bucks for training ammo. we all do the same. Just buy the good stuff for defensive use. But there are better choices such as Winchester white box and similar for training and target. Good Luck and enjoy the XD ( as I believe I mentioned, I carry an XD40 subcompact daily and have several thousand rounds through it with no failures other than a few rounds of reloaded target ammo not going off. Like I said we all need to save a few bucks)
