Springfield XD 9mm sight adjustment

I'm new to this thread and was wondering if there may be someone who could give me a hand. Today I bought my first handgun . A Springfield XD 9mm sub compact. I took several shots and realized I had a problem. Although my shots were grouping dead center, it was almost 2ft low at 25 yards. Is there a way to adjust the sights that much?

Practice your trigger pull to correct the problem. It is not the sights. Make sure the top of the front sight is level with the top of the rear sight and practice your trigger pull so you won't be pulling your shots low.

I had them level or so I thought I guess. I'll admit that I'm a rifle with a scope shooter, and only 1 other time shot an open sight like this. It was a .22 revolver and at 25 yrds I was grouping them well right on target so when these shots were grouping so low, I got confused.

The XD I have only allows sights to be drifted from side to side ( by using a press and not breaking them if youre lucky )Elevation should be dead on. I agree with the make sure the dots line up. Are you shooting with one eye or 2?

1 eye (right, my dominant). I definently don't need to adjust left or right at all. I tried to raise the front
Of my gun up so the front sight ended up being quite a bit higher than level with the back sights to get my shots to hit close to the bullseye of my target. Im not sure how to explain it better. If I could post a pic of what I'm talking about, I certainly would.

One technique to help trigger pull is unload the gun fully, empty chamber and no magazine in it. You can dry fire it to get used to the trigger pull. To steady your pull you can place a penny or some on the front sight and slowly squeeze the trigger as you're aiming at the target. Remember fully unloaded, when you can do this a few times without dropping the coin you're catching on. Only do this if you feel comfortable with it. Hope this helps you out

. Like stated above , practice , practice , practice.

This might sound stupid but..... when I went from a ruger 357 to a xdm9 I couldn't hit any thing. Until a guy told me the dot in the front sight is where the bullet will hit. ( called point of aim).
Just an idea.

That's a GREAT idea! Thank you!

I was like you. I could hit a quarter from 200 yards, but I was crap with a pistol. My problem was that as I
was pulling the trigger I was pulling down to fight against the recoil. It took me a while to figure it out,
but I eventually noticed it.

I eventually got over it by practicing. Like said before.
