Spreading of Knowledge and Innovation under Austerity

If you enjoy the freedom of information we still temporarily enjoy in this country and ESPECIALLY if you enjoy what freedom remains here, watch this lecture by Eben Moglen. It’s a little long (about 47 min.) and it takes a few minutes to start the thought process, but it is fascinating! A lot of pieces from recent news stories click into place, I though. It’s called “Innovation under Austerity.” Even this professor thinks the government is MUCH too invasive and powerful. And that EVERYONE should have access to information, regardless of status. And WHAT do governments fear most? Access to information.

With our armies and navies forward deployed and distracted in Asia now, if China were to attack and try to invade, like the Japanese once did, by surprise, then it would depend on the self-regulated impromptu militias in the USA to hold off the Chinese until our armies and navies could return and fight them off with us.

The Chinese have noted that we are an armed populace, an arsenal of democracy. They would not stand a chance. We would die before becoming their slaves, and we would take a lot of them with us.

Would agree with you if it were 30 years ago. Yes, some of us would stand and fight. However, today, there is a very large percentage of the people in this country who would freak out, curl up in to a ball, and cry out; "Where is our government? They said they would protect us".

Sorry, but I have about as much faith in the American people as a whole, as I do the government. I'm with you all the way, just feel differently about the hypothetical outcome. On "taking a lot of them with us", I'm with you 110%.

Still believe that the greatest threat to this country is from within. The current administration and the people who support them specifically.
