Sportsmen vs ccw

What happens if you're caught ccw with a sportsman permit? Is it ok to ccw while driving with a sportsman permit? In upstate New York .

It is OK as long as you are OK with getting arrested and convicted when caught. Know your state laws.

Thats the thing... I'm looking at the provisions and penal codes and it looks like all NYS permits are Carry concealed but I can not find specifics on the restrictions preferably the sportsmen restriction.
If you find or know of any links please share.

Look up NY State Penal Code § 400.00 and § 265.00.

Can you please identify what a "sportsmen restriction" is? As far as I know, a hunting permit is not a concealed carry permit. Carrying a concealed handgun without a concealed carry permit is illegal. A hunting permit does not allow one to carry concealed.

ny offers a full cc permit, a sporting shooting permit( hunting taking to range) , and a on premises permit. I know its stupid but it is ny. so to the op if your in Walmart and a anti sees your gun and rats you out, well thats not hunting or taking it to range. don't do it......

Ok..i'll give you the quick rundown..i'm also from upstate ny. NY only offers Concealed Carry..no other. Every County in NY has just a little differen't rules..but in general if you have restrictions placed on your permit, they are just administrative. That means a judge placed them on your permit but you still have a full concealed carry permit. If you get caught carrying outside of your restrictions you can have your permit revoked by the judge..BUT..you can not be arrested and your not in trouble. So...if you have on your permit, "hunting, fishing, hiking" whatever...you CAN carry your gun to and from loaded and concealed on you going to your hunting site, or fishing site, or hiking... None of what i said applies to NYC.

In SC, just because you're hunting with your rifle or shotgun doesn't mean you can't carry your CCW handgun at the same time. Many hunters regularly carry both, especially deer hunters who might be surprised by a mean wild boar--in that case, it's a self-defense issue.
