From todays exposeobama.com:

What a clever, sneaky President we have in the WH. He pays lip service to the 2A on the campaign trail, then does an about face and appoints person after person after person to positions of power who are AGAINST the 2A. Better grab your guns and religion, boys and girls. The 2A is a very, very powerful right, or else the damn liberals wouldn't be trying so hard to take it away. Lord help us!

Today President Barack Obama nominated Sonia Sotomayor to the U.S. Supreme Court to fill the seat of retiring Justice David Souter. If confirmed, Sotomayor would become the first Hispanic and third woman to serve on the High Court.

Sotomayor is a graduate of Princeton and obtained her law degree from Yale. She served in private practice and as Assistant District Attorney in New York County and was nominated to the Second Circuit federal Court of Appeals by President George H. W. Bush in 1991.

Despite 17 years on the bench, Sotomayor has never directly decided whether a law regulating abortion is constitutional. In Center for Reproductive Law & Policy v. Bush, she wrote an opinion that upheld the Mexico City Policy prohibiting federal funding of overseas abortions.

Sotomayor does not believe that the Second Amendment right to bear arms applies to individuals. While on a panel discussion at Duke Law School, she argued that the “Court of Appeals is where policy is made.” Judge Sotomayor has had 5 decisions reviewed by the U.S. Supreme Court, 3 of which have been reversed. She has carried 11 of 44 possible votes during those cases. In Knight v. Commissioner of Internal Revenue, Chief Justice Roberts stated that her method of reading the statute in question “flies in the face of the statutory language.”

She has written in support of Affirmative Action, upheld the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, and in Amandola v. Town of Babylon, she wrote that denying use of a town hall annex for their worship services violated the First Amendment. She has written a book called “The International Judge,” which suggests that international law and policy should be considered in some court decisions.

Some have described her temperament on the bench as a “bully” and “abusive” to lawyers.

You mean the spineless jelly fish she is to replace? It will make absolutely no difference on 2nd votes.

as the Bible says, if salt loses its saltiness, it is worthless and is thrown out. this is EXACTLY what has hapened to the Republican party.they had better get straight and start standing for something, and fast.

while as far as the Second Amendment is concerned there is little difference between Souter and Sotomayor; although it is clear that Sotomayor is much more of a biased left wing liberal then Souter, with statements like ...

"I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experience would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life." [U.C. Berkeley School of Law, 10/26/2001]"

mmm... does not sound anything like basing conclusions on the Rule of Law or the Constitution to me...

YouTube - Judge Sonia Sotomayor: Court is Where Policy is Made

What so many people are not recognizing is the fact that Souter was not anticipated to be replaced in the the next 4-8 years...
The balance of power in the SCOTUS could most certainly be tipped in the next 4-8 years now... a grave concern when the Usurper is seeking Judges that will base their decisions on Empathy and Sympathy...

What we need to hammer our Senators on is not only not confirming Sotomayor, but finding a Judge that supports the Constitution as it was Written, and does not seek to make Precedent, Case Law, but seeks to ENFORCE THE CONSTITUTION...

We can stop the Confirmation of Sotomayor if we make our Senators clear and drive home the fact that she is NO FRIEND of the Second Amendment or the Constitution for that matter...

Bohemian, I think the problem we face is that congress no longer cares what the American public thinks. We made it clear to them we did not want them to vote for the rip off of the tax payers for the bail outs. They heard us loud and clear and still voted for it.

She'll have a hard time undoing the Heller case

Yes, it swung on one vote. But the Scalia opinion was masterful (even if he threw in a few too many Alice in Wonderland references), scholarly, and erudite. AND based on the law. Plus, several muicipalities and states have begun revamping their laws already, due to the Heller outcome and continued pressure from the NRA.

This isn't a republican vs democrat issue. Gun owners, and gun haters, come from both sides of the isle.

Write your senators. Make it clear how you feel. As un-elected members of the populace, that's really all we can do. Well, besides joining the NRA (or recruiting other gun owners). It is really pretty shameful that 75 of the 80 million gun owers in this country are willing to stand idly by and do nothing while the dudley dorights of the PC movement decide whether we should continue to have the most important of all the Contitutionally guaranteed rights. If you don't write anybody, sign up some friends with the NRA. Imagine how their lobby would be viewed if it represented 80 million adult voters!

I think i agree that the Senate (up there in the Holy City) no longer cares WHAT the voters care about. That's for the House to worry about, don't you know, while the Senate transacts the REAL business of this country. The Senate - well they walk on water don't they - always know what's best for other people, exactly how we should live our lives, pay our taxes, how to fix the Economy, how to win a war, (well, maybe not that). You name it, they know how to fix it better than you. Gorwing up, we had a word for people like that. Now we send them to DC and pay them 175k per year to take corporate junkets, fact-finding trips to Honolulu, and stuff their war chests with millions of dollars in bribes, i mean contributions.

So, what to do? Be an American. Vote your mind and your principals. Advise your elected representatives what you think even if you don't believe they're listening. Vote them out of office next time around if they don't listen. Trust that our government, as screwed up as it is, is still the best one going. Be even more of an activist on the local and state level, where you have a better chance of being heard.

Oh and... brush up on that Karate you took as a kid. It could be your only means of self defense after this administration is through.

"Its time we started giving the Second Amendment the same attention we give the First Amendment" - Governor Mike Huckabee.

"I am proud to join the State of Texas in support of the Second Amendment. We need to send a strong message that law-abiding citizens have a right to own firearms, for personal protection, for hunting and for any other lawful purpose." - Governor Sarah Palin
