For those in states outside of NY. NY has recently passed laws that require New York gun owners to under go a State Controlled NIC type check when purchasing ammo. They also passed a law that says you can keep you AR-15 but you have to Register it With the State. This junk is part of the Conversation on Gun Violence. The Anti's have always wanted a 100% Gun registration and now they have it in NY, Don't let it happen in your state.


These bastards are not a dumb as they look.
They already have a hand gun registry but they needed a long gun registry.
And now they have it!

But the law doesn't affect Hunters or tromp on Second Amendment Rights.

The ammunition database creates a de facto universal long gun registry.
You purchase a 20 round box of .308, you have a 308 rifle.
You purchase 500 rounds of .223 you have an AR or maybe like me a bold action 223.
But you purchased 500 round of 223. your name is now cross referenced against the "REGISTERED AR-15" list.
HMMMMMMM According to the data base YOU DON HAVE AN "AW" REGISTERED. but you just purchased "AW" ammo.
Sounds like you are a straw purchaser for a gang banger.

Ditto. I got told to show ID at Fleet Farm to buy rifle ammo here in WI. I was told that people who appear to be under the age of 21 need to show ID when purchasing handgun ammuniton. I asked for a manager. He said "sell him the ********* ammo or clock out and don't come back." I walked back and got three boxes of .40 so she had to bypass the age thing three times. Told her "practice makes perfect!" I do not look 18, I got gray hairs in my beard and I'm 28!

What prevents people who live close to the border to go to a state without these laws to purchase Ammo?
It seems like all they are doing is pushing Ammo Sales Out of State.

Who has started filing a legal challenge to this? Surely, there is at least one friendly judge that will agree to put the law on hold pending a trial. If there are multiple lawsuits filed to tie this law up so it cannot go into effect, it will effectively give pro 2nd Amendment supporters the chance to fight it. You can be sure the libs would try to delay implementation if this law was the reverse, making guns/ammo more available with less accountability.
If New Yorkers don't immediately tie this up in courts, the pressure will be on in other states to enact the same kind of garbage. Just refusing to "register" a gun will not stop this but will open that person to felony charges and loss of ever being able to own a firearm, possibly even if moving to another state after conviction. This law was rushed through so fast, it has to have so many flaws that could be challenged. Also, if it is mandated there has to be a 3 day waiting period and Cuomo illegally bypassed that, what would prevent someone from filing suit against him for illegal actions? We have to think and use all possible legal grounds to stop this law fast. If others see it won't be as easy as Cuomo made it look, it could dampen the push in other states.

Perhaps in your world that is true, but I will be polite and counter with: Just because you are paranoid, it doesn't mean you aren't being followed.

You continue to defend the NY Hand Gun Licensing scheme, You defended it when it was a license for life, even though with CCW aside, you still could not own a handgun without a license in NY State. Now you have 5 year re-newals and you compare that to other states. Wrong again, the other states are Shall Issue and not may issue and there in lies the rub.
Now you are defending the Ammo database which is really a backdoor Long gun registration, by using typical progressive tactics. (name calling)

Most people don't know that ID has always been required in NYS to purchase pistol-specific ammo. NYS PL270 has always prohibited the sale of such ammo to those not authorized to posses it. This is why Wally World asks to see a CCW permit before selling the ammo. And Gander Mountain has always made a record of the sale by entering your license number in the cash register at point of sale. This law was rarely followed and not really enforced. I can remember street urchins buying 1,000 round boxes at the local gun show with no ID. check. No doubt that ammo went to the street.

You have to remember that he has grown up in a different world that you and I.
He has played on soccer teams that have never scored a goal and yet has never lost a game. He even has trophies on his mantle to prove it.
