Soon to be 1st time owner

Yes. Compact and Sub Compact Px4 Storms will accept the larger models magazines. Beretta even makes a 20 round 9mm magazine.

Someday, next year I want a second handgun. Might be a .40 or a 9mm (Have SR40C now) I like the FNX 40. but would have to get used to a full sized carry . The PX4 Storm Compact really is appealing to me also. thanks for the info.

Any feedback on the Xd-s? I understand there is a recall on them, but I'd still like some input. This looks close to fitting the bill as far ad what I'm looking for (not sure on the price point though).

I tried it and loved it. Would have gotten it, but I was torn between it and the M&P Shield equally, and the Shield was available. The Shield was a bit easier for me to shoot, but not a lot, and I prefer the safeties on the XDs.

your level of misunderstanding of economics related to guns is pretty far out there. If you buy from and sell to private parties, you will "lose" at most $50 on a decent .22, while it saves you several hundred $ in ammo costs. You are settling for MUCH less skill than is needed for decent levels of defensive ability, if you don't fire several thousand rds the first year that you own a pistol, and many hundreds of rds per year to maintain a decent level of ability thereafter. At about 40c a shot for .357's, that's a TON more expensive than 22's.

SR9c, Great gun, Great Trigger, Accurate, and comes with a 17 round mag and a 10 round mag.
Ruger customer service is #1. Feel confident when choosing the Ruger SR9c.

Here in the next few months, I plan on making my first hand gun purchase. I intend to acquire my Carry Conceal License, but I'm at this point I'm undecided on what caliber, manufacturer, and model I should buy. Walther PK380, Ruger SR9c are two that I am leaning towards (more the SR9c, due to price and supply of ammo). Price is a HUGE factor (I'm talking $500 at the max). Any suggestions would be more than welcome.

IMHO, Ruger makes the best weapons available with regard to cost vs reliability. I also believe that if cost is a factor, 9mm will help with that. Rounds are cheaper both for defense and range rounds, and their availability is dropping the prices gradually down to pre-Newtown levels. Based on this criteria, I chose the LC9 as my concealed carry weapon. If CC is your goal, don't forget to factor in the cost of a good holster.

dunno where you've been, but in my area, 9mm ammo is 50c a shot, if it can be found at all, and it's been that way for almost a year now. While it's bad news to have to pay 15c a shot for .22lr, it's still 1/3rd of what most centerfire rds cost.

Best thing if you can rent as many firearms as you possibly can afford. Every one has their favorite firearm. Me, I carry a full size XD-357 SIG. I have no issues with conceal. And stopping power to no end.

Slowly narrowing this decision down. Glock, Sig Sauer, Beretta, and possibly FN are the manufacturers I am leaning towards. Model 19, P250, P2022, PX4 Storm compact are the models I have seen the overall reviews to most favorable. My concern with he Sig P2022 is the 10lb. DA trigger pull, which seems rather "heavy".

That is because there is no external safety on the Sig, so you really have to want to pull the trigger for your first shot. After the slide cycles the hammer stays cocked and the single action trigger pull is about 4.5lb. When you are done shooting, use the decocker before reholstering.

I'm more concerned with it if my wife were to ever have to use it. She has fairly small hands and I'm not sure she could manage that pull. The P250 is the other Sig I'm looking at, seems a bit more "user friendly" as far as my wife goes.
