Breitbart News reported that Sonic restaurants asked law-abiding "customers [to] refrain from bringing guns" to their restaurants on May 30.

On that same day, according The Topeka Capital Journal, two individuals who may have realized law-abiding citizens were unarmed walked into a Topeka, Kansas Sonic and robbed it.

According to police, the suspects are two black males, both of whom were wearing hoodies and white pants.

This same thing happened to Jack in the Box once they asked law-abiding citizens to quit carrying guns in their restaurants.

On May 11 Breitbart News reported Jack in the Box told law abiding citizens they would "prefer" they not carry guns into the restaurants. On May 13 there was a shooting at a Nashville Jack in the Box and on May 18 and 20 there were armed robberies at Jack in the Box restaurants in Houston, TX.

During the May 20 robbery the suspects not only targeted the store but also went table to table robbing patrons, whom they knew were unarmed per Jack in the Box's policy.

Karma Bites!
~
They should have known from other companies bad experiences what to expect for criminals looking for a target rich environment.

Much as it's fun to sit back and point and snicker at this story, I don't think the gun policy had much to do with that robbery occurring.

A simple Google search finds that Sonics get robbed often enough. As do pretty much every other fast food place.

Still, the timing is entertaining!

Our local Sonics do not have inside eating, only car service. But they say if they even see a gun in your car, they can ask you to leave. Fact is, that's all they can do. I think that would be kind of a gray area. It's not exactly a parking lot, but it's not inside a building either.

That said, I don't eat there.

And as for the others, Jack-In-The-Box and Chipotle, never even seen one.

Imagine that!

ANOTHER Jack in the Box in Texas Robbed at Gunpoint After Chain Says No to Guns
Posted on: June 10th, 2014

How’s that no guns policy working out for you there Jack In The Box?

We have yet another armed robbery at a Jack in the Box restaurant in Texas just weeks after the chain asked legal gun owners to leave their firearms at home.

According to Your Houston News,

Police are asking for help identifying a possible suspect in an armed robbery. The robbery occurred around 2 a.m. Monday, June 9. One white male subject held employees at gunpoint shortly after 2 a.m. at the Jack in the Box on North Main in Liberty.

In an incident only a couple of weeks ago, a NW Houston Jack in the Box restaurant was targeted by armed robbers in broad daylight.

In two other incidents, one of which was also in Houston, and one in Tennessee, people were actually shot.

Does anyone have any idea what the legal standing is for carrying a gun into a JitB in the state of Texas? In Texas we can't legally carry a gun into any place with a 30.06 sign or a 51% sign. Since JitB has publicly stated they do not want gun owners to carry inside their store they have given notice but it would seem that is the same as the worthless gun buster signs and there is no legal authority saying you cant carry a gun in the store. So is this the same as the silly gun buster signs and all they can really do is ask you to leave if they find that you are carrying a gun?

-update:
After some reading it seems that this might just be for open carry. Still JitB can ask you to leave their restaurant for just about anything they choose. I will just save them the hassle and not go to their place as I live in NW Houston and robbing those places seems to be the in vogue thing to do right now.
