So true. had a Golden Retriever for 14 years and she passed away. I have a picture of her on my wall with the caption, " Well done good and faithful friend". Hope to see her again some day soon.
I wish my Golden had lived that long. I had to have him put down just short of 10 years. His hips went out, and he could no longer walk. It was one of the saddest days of my life.
We had to put down the last 4 we had. The last one was 15 1/2. That was 2 years ago and we still miss her! So far we have not gotten another dog. We want to do some traveling and it would not be fair to the dog. Also it's so HARD when you lose them!
To everyone who has lost or had to put your Best Friend down, I know how you feel.
On a lighter note, lock your dog and your wife in the trunk of your car. Come back in 2 hours and let them out.

We just had to put our female lab down last week at 11.5, devastating. Her brother is beside me on the couch right now. He is also a bit lost and keeps looking for her.
You know this day will come the day you bring the puppy home, but what they contribute to our lives during their lifetime cannot be measured, but it still makes their last day the toughest.
We took this little guy off the street a year ago New Years. He was just a young pup someone just dumped like a piece of trash. He was lost and scared with nowhere to go. We took him in, got him all his shots, groomed, and all fixed up. I've never had a dog show me such thanks. He house broke in 1 day. He follows me wherever I go, from room to room, never letting me out of his sight. He sleeps in our bed with us. He's young, so I'm hopeful he'll be with us a long time. I can't even imagine what it's going to be like without him. It's a thought I don't dwell on.
