Cities deploy sensors to triangulate origin of any shots fired in city. Interesting.

In my paranoid way of thinking with the government being the way it is, the purpose of these detectors is to triangulate on you and me and not the "civilian defense force" (that's the brown shirts--ya know the ACORN/SEIU), per obamacare, that are there to "restore order", should you and I decide we have had enough of this socialist/communist baloney.

"In Long Island’s Nassau County, gun violence was reduced by a whopping 90 percent at the close of this year’s first quarter."

The report makes it sound as if this system is responsible for the 90% reduction...Well pull all the officers off the streets then!

Sounds like more Bull crap statistics!

Now don't get me wrong I'm all for getting the thugs off the streets, but I think the general public is smart enough to understand this 90% crime reduction is crap and with the officer response time in some areas the system will not be as beneficial as intended.

Sounds like a good idea. The only people who wouldn't like it are low life criminals and people who shoot where they're not supposed to be shooting at

Statistics don't lie but liars use statistics.

I guess I don't have a problem with these. My city uses them in "secret" locations hand hopefully they start to work and help catch people using their guns illegally.

LA county has had these forever against gang violence. It has its uses and if im forced to use my gun in defense I may find it useful. My concern is future enhancements of its official use, ie microphone to monitor conversations.

I love how the media is dramatizing the whole thing by referring to this system as a "Sniper Detector". If I'm not mistaken, the system detects gunshots in general and not just ones coming from a guy on a rooftop with a scoped high-powered rifle. Of course "sniper" is a glamour word and we all know how the media likes to glamourize things....

Anyway, as I said in the other thread, after a year of using the system the Broward Sheriff's Office has decided not to keep it. Too many false alarms. Apparently even a loud truck would set it off.

Old Tech, and why does CA, NY need these as they have laws against carrying guns by BG's. Surely the BG's would not ignore the law.

I own several things that can cause false alarms. Steam loco model. Lawn mower. Propane cannon for scaring birds will do it too.

Sounds like the perfect system for generating statistics but not much else. It will tell the authorities where the shooters were which isn't what they need to know unless the shooters stick around to wait for the police to arrive. It's not much help with where they are when the authorities get to where they were, or in figuring out where they are going to be.

Yeah, something like this would have stopped low lifes like Paul Revere and Thomas Jefferson right in their tracks. We should have had it back then and none of us would be on here talking about guns because none of us would own them.

There's always got to be someone trying to be a smarta$$. We are talking about what's going on right now, not "what if" they had this in past.

Listen Genius, our forefathers fought and lost their lives so that we could sit here on the internet and discusswhatever we please with the guaranty that the government could not jail or kill us for saying something they don't like.

Brave men stood up when General Gage came to take their weapons and ammo. They did what any man who wasn't a coward did. They first tried to reason with the authorities, then they defied them. Then they defeated them.

Those brave men would be disgusted to see all the insane discussion that goes on here about how to comply with this unconstitutional law, or that unconstitutional regulation.

So, yeah, I guess you're right. I am talking about the past, when the US wasn't a land of recliner bound cowards.

Carry on with your talk of police snooping into every sound without due cause or a warrant. Next it will be the pillow talk with your wife. If any of you have one.
