Anyone know anything about the M&P .357 Pro R8?
Also just thinking about the S&W M&P .40 full size. It takes 15 in the Mag.
Any experience or comments on these guns would be interesting and helpful. Thanks

I own the M&P45 full size and the M&P40c. I have had good luck with both so far. I've done the Apex Tactical AEK mod to both and love the trigger pull now. They were both MA compliant so the 10+ lb pull was a must solve issue (no fault of the manufacturer).

I also did the rework on a 9mm full size for a friend and he has become a fan of the M&P. One of the guys at my local dealer has a 45 with close to 15,000 rounds through it (IDPA shooter) and he has had 0 issues.

The design is simple and efficient. I've had no feed jams or issues with function even with cheap ammo. I liked the grip angle and feel over the Glock. Best bet is to try one and see, if that's possible. I own 4 S&W firearms and will buy more. If it's for carry I'd go with the .40S&W as the ammo cost for target is cheaper and the choices for good carry ammo are plentiful.

Anyone ever try the .357 M&P? Expensive but looks and feels like a quality weapon.
Will try both next trip to S&W

i have the m&p fullsize .40 and love it. never had a issue with it. like 6shoot said no feed, jam, misfire, nothing. its a good gun for the price. i chose it over a glock and the full size xd in .40 cause if the feel and the fact you can change the grip size to fit YOUR hand.

I have M&P9, pretty good gun. I have like 1200 rounds and 0 issue..I dont carry every day.. I use the gun for range and IDPA.

I have read that this gun is reliable. I have a Glock 17 and HK USP compact .40 and they have a great reputation but the S&W have been getting great comments.
The S&W .357 Pro R8 is something I have been thinking of as a house gun, though I think it would be fun at the range. Still no comments on that gun. Maybe because it's a bit large to carry plus expensive.

The 357 Sig is a .40S&W necked down essentially. My magazine for the M&P40c indicates .357 Sig and 40S&W so no need to buy more mags. The slide assembly would be the same for both cartridges. So really the only thing that would need to be swapped out to allow the firearm to be used for both .357 Sig and 40S&W is the barrel and possibly the recoil spring assy. So the added labor is having a .357 barrel fitted to the gun by a good gunsmith for proper fit and safe use. I have not read any posts here or reports of anyone attempting to try this modification/refit.

Food for thought. I'm gonna try and do more research on this idea.

As a Firearm sales & Gunsmith part time job, I carry the S&W .40 Sigma 14+1. I have owned and fired many weapons but have found in my opinion the Sigma to be the most stable and accurate with very little recoil. I have shot the M&P series and they are fine weapons though can jam at times and have much more recoil and are heavier (bulky to me) I believe any S&W gun is a fine weapon just wanted to share my thoughts. The Sigma is also much easier to conceal.

I understand what you are saying but the R8 in .357 is a revolver.

Ahhh... I know S&W has been adding new firearms to their offerings and thought it may have been a new M&P auto in the lineup. :laugh:

Not sure about that one you mention, but as far as S&W revolvers go, I don't think you can go horribly wrong.
I have an old model 65-3 4" .357 Mag revolver and love it.
