smith and wesson sport or ruger mini 14

Just looking for advice I have a smith and wesson sport ar that I'm thinking about trading for a ruger mini 14 just looking for some if your thoughts

I would do it in a heart beat! Mini 14s are reliable, accurate and they don't go "boing" in your ear from the buffer every time you fire it. The Ranch Rifle is best because it has scope mounts.

I almost went for a mini 30 last summer... but then I came across a beautiful Rem 700 instead. don't regret it, but I still want a mini.

Me? Mini, everytime. In either the '14' or '30' models... they're fine weapons and I much prefer them to ARs. The mags are expensive, yes... and they have to be rocked in much like the big brother or AK but, with practice this is a non-issue.

Here's an article on the '14': Link Removed

Mini. Had two. Both worked great. Sold one because I needed the money. The SS one got stolen. Still want another one.

I recently bought a used (but barely shot) 581 series Ranch model and love it. I've put it into an ATI folding/collapsible stock for a bit of extra length. I don't know whether it's more or less reliable than my AR15s and haven't done an accuracy comparison yet, but it sure is fun!

Have bother platforms and enjoy them both. The Mini 14 will take so much more abuse and dirt than the AR15 platform will without a good cleaning.

I have a Mini 14 tactical with the ATI hardware that takes care of all my needs regarding, lighting and optics. Comfortable and easy to shoot for all periods, makes a great varmint gun.

We have the Ranch Rifle at the shop in the ATI stuff from the factory. I would rather have the wooden stocked SS model if I were buying. I just don't like plastic on guns that should have wood.
