smartcarry day one

I wore my LC9 in my smartcarry holster for most of the day. I have high hopes for it as it seems to work very well in concealing the gun and offering good comfort. I have a number of IWB holsters that just don't work as a effective way to carry while on duty. I am in retail sales and am required to wear the company polo. To this point I have utilized ankle carry and will often carry my LCP in my front pocket. Time will tell but my initial thought are favorable after only one day. Using the mens room was not a big deal and I am happy with the quick access the smartcarry offers while practicing drawing the Ruger. Pricey way to go and I am hopeful it will do the trick and allow me to carry my LC9 while in work attire. The secret seems to be wearing the rig very low in relation to your belt line.

I considered the SmartCarry, but I already have a drawer full of holsters...I just bought a Pistol Wear PT-2 for jogging and love it!....as advertised. The SmartCarry is next on my list though!

$68 was pretty steep but so were my many other holsters. It should work well for its intended purpose.

I will be ordering mine soon for work carry as well. Going to try to carry my XDm 3.8c in it. If it's too big I'll just carry my Sig 238 in it.

If you wear it a lot, It is recommended that you put a piece of duct tape where the end of the firearm rests all the time. (the tape goes on the outside of the holster) It keeps the fabric from wearing thin there from rubbing on your pants.... Much cheaper to replace a piece of tape every few months if you need to, than get a hole in an expensive but worth every penny holster.. (not that it wouldnt take a few yrs to get a hole in it)

Mine is over 2 years old and is still going strong...

Thank you for the heads up. For $68 I want to squeeze every moment of use out of this fabric wonder.

Smart Carry is great, I use it whenever I wear belt-less shorts or pants. All other times it's Max Tuck for me.

Don't remember what I paid for my Thunderwear (same as smart carry) but I think it was less than half that. Got at a local gun show.

Works well when you need a deep conceal and can sacrifice a bit of accessibility. Carry met G26 in one from time to time - not often - with spare magazine in the other pocket.

Neat trick with the duct tape...if I wore mine more I would definitely go that route.

IMHO, it's not "smart" to carry a loaded handgun pointed directly at the family jewels. It just doesn't seem right! Gives a negligent discharge a whole new meaning :stop: I'm sure the little guy doesn't appreciate it either... Then again, if you're a singer and want to change from baritone to soprano, roll the dice.

I had my doubts too but it is very comfortable and the LC9 has an external safety that i use. I wouldnt carry my LCP because of no safety but it will work with my XD40sc since it has the grip safety. For deep concealment this set up is top notch. Days off i will still opt for the XD in my hybrid IWB holster. After wearing it all day i am very happy with the smartcarry.

The trick is to not be negligent.

Actually, when worn correctly, the weapon would never point at your junk....

Another option is to fold up a small piece of cotton cloth (like to clean eye glasses with) and place it in the bottom so the barrel sits on it and the front corner of the slide doesn't rub on the holster as much. Mine has never worn through with a G26. If it ever does, then I will go to the duct tape for a little extra life.

So three days into carrying my LC9 I have to say I like this style of carry. I am becoming more comfortable with the thought of it being concealed and the people around me will not notice anything. The lower you wear this thing the better. Going to the bathroom is no big deal at all and the over all comfort is outstanding. I did put some duct tape on the outside portion of the rig to protect it from wearing through where the barrel rests. Like all of my carry rigs it comes down to the holster having more good than bad as no one set up is perfect for every situation. I played catch with my boys for an hour while wearing the smartcarry and it was very easy to move while wearing it. I do find that, right handed draw, the gun is hidden from the grip printing when I rotate it toward my left leg and not center the rig. Money well spent.
