Skyview Atlanta Ferris Wheel not CCW friendly

Went to downtown Atlanta yesterday with the family to ride the Skyview Atlanta Ferris Wheel - 20 Stories high, located at the South End of Centennial Park on Luckie Street. This is definitely not an area to be in without protection. Their policy is to wand patrons and disallow entrance to anyone with a "gun, knife or weapon". Well, until I can afford to pull up and leave in my limo, I certainly can't visit their attraction. There would be no way to park and safely get to wheel.

Guess I won't be going there then. I hate going to Atlanta anyway but I refuse to go anywhere there I can't carry.

Besides the capitol, but only for my son's school. As soon as I leave its back on my hip again.

ROTFLMBO Hahahahahahahahahaha, Thanks for the laughs. So let me get this straight. You think it is less obtrusive and scary to gun fearing mongers to require someone to remove their belt so they can slide off the holster and weapon to put it into a locker than to let them keep it concealed? You really don't get it do you?

You are requiring individuals that are LEGALLY carrying a weapon for self defense. The lockers should be provided for free!

Not that I'm anywhere near Atlanta, but how tough are those lockers to get in to? Are they supervised or guarded? I'd worry about someone sitting and watching for someone to secure their gun in the locker and breaking in when they're gone.

If nothing else, it's a better solution than many places that just want you to leave a gun in the car while you're in a dangerous part of the city. I was exceptionally mad to find out a rodeo was held in the Coliseum ("nothing resembling a weapon") here in Denver... They'd put a general address for the whole event, but didn't say specifically where the rodeo was held. If I hadn't promised my son, and there weren't cops EVERYWHERE, I would have left. Parking in the dark down an alley in Denver with a 6-yr-old... WTF.

I was in Atlanta in 1986 took the greyhound from FT Gordon in route to Ft Riley. I missed the connection to the Airport, but was lucky as I went to high school with the girl behind the counter. She informed me I could catch a bus to the airport at the hotel across the street, but that I would be better off only taking one bag at a time as it was a rough area. Sure enough the second I exited the door I was approached by three people wanting money. I did get a laugh out of the guy who said he was new their and could use some help. I said buddy I just got off the bus, make me newer how about you help me out.

I had a flat tire on Techwood Dr. a couple blocks from the Wheel. I had kids in my car. I will NEVER go back in that area without conceal. Period. I guess the kids will have to wait until they are old enough to go on their own.
