Can anyone recommend some sources for buying an SKS bullpup carbine for a decent price?

Thanks, JGS

I don't own an SKS and if I did, although it would be fun to do, I don't have time for a project. Looking for a compact tough semi auto.308 all ready to go, no kits.I checked Gunbroker.com, just wondering if anyone had other sources. Nice job with your kit. Thanks, stay safe.

.308 or a 7.62x39mm? The SKS is chambered for 7.62x39, not .308win(7.62x51 NATO)...

I'm aware of the difference and the fact that the 7.62 NATO doesn't fire .308 like the 5.56 fires .223, but thx. Just said 308 to emphasize am looking for that general size round in a carbine but don't want another mini 30.

The SKS designs I'm aware of don't come in bullpup configuration, although someone out there may be marketing them as such. You would have to do some research.

If you are wanting compact and tough it is hard to beat an AK variant with folding stock. I would also recommend the Springfield M1A in the Squad Scout or even shorter-barreled SOCOM, but would avoid the quad rail configuration as I hear they chew up your hands and throw the balance too far forward.

By the way, be advised that the 7.62 x 39mm cartridge is not referred to as a .308 because the foreign made guns all have a .311" diameter bore. The Ruger Mini 30 does, however use a .308 sized bullet as does the 7.62 x 51 NATO/.308 Winchester and, surprisingly, the 7.62 Russian (7.62 x 54R) cartridge.
