Not long ago at my place of business, a young man continued to ask me questions about serving in the United States Army.
After a month or so he committed to go to OCS. Upon graduation he came back to see me, in uniform. his new butter Bars proudly displayed.
Upon seeing him and his rank I issued a proper Salute and held it waiting for his return.
Instead, he got all excited and said "I have something for you, Oh My Gosh, I have something for you". As he reached into his pocket he pulled out a Silver Dollar. The silver dollar to be given to the first enlisted man who saluted him.
I couldn't be more proud.
On another note, My location has 127 associates. I am the only veteran. Sad.
