Ok, where does one get the picture done for their permit? Are there any special requirements for size?

Wal Mart does passport photos.

Here's the requirement in Colorado state law:

(b) A full frontal view color photograph of the applicant's head taken within the thirty days immediately preceding submittal of the permit application; except that the applicant need not submit a photograph if the sheriff photographs the applicant for purposes of issuing a permit. Any photograph submitted shall show the applicant's full head, including hair and facial features, and the depiction of the applicant's head shall measure one and one-eighth inches wide and one and one-fourth inches high.

Pictures....we don't need no steenkin pictures!

As noted, any place that says they do passport pictures. I think my local Sam's club can even do them.

West Virginia is all over the board depending upon the county. Some counties produce permits that look just like your DL with photo. Other counties(mine) shrink your permit and laminate, no photo. Sucks.

 In Georgia you apply at the probate office for your renewal permit and they take your picture. When they were going to take my picture I told them that they must not like their camera. They took my picture but the camera did not work, they said that had never happened before, took them about 5 minutes to get it working again.

I have Washington, Arizona, and oregon CPLs and the only one that required a photo was Oregon, and they took it at the sheriffs office.

In Wyoming you are instructed to go to the DMV to have them take the photo. You can't use your drivers license photo but they will take the new one at no charge.

in GA the county probate court (the CCW issuing agency in GA) takes your picture and fingerprints when you apply. Both are digital. Your application fee covers the cost. They even let you see the picture and retake it if they're not busy.

The same office issues marriage and CCW licenses. I think that's kind of cool. While my wife and I were there peopel were turning in applications for both at the same time. The sign on the door says "Office of Marriage and Firearms Licenses".

After your application is submitted, you go to the Sherriff's office to get fingerprinted (same building). The office where that's done is across the hall from the office where sex offenders have to register so there's always 10-20 people waiting to be fingerprinted to get their CCW's sitting across the hall from where sex offenders have to register. Coincidence?

Montana doesn't require a photo, just finger prints.
And the Bill to allow CC without a permit was just voted for in the House.

The hard copy permit would still be available and Montana is shall issue.

In Broomfield, the Police Dept takes your picture when you go in to pickup your license. They then print out the license right in front of you.

Here in Ohio, they require a 2x2 passport sized photo, taken within 30 days, to be submitted with the applicatio. I got mine done at Walgreen's.

The kicker... when you go to apply, they take your picture again. The one they take is the one they use, not the one you submit. I don't quite get it.
