Sig P226 - NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS!!! VIDEO

VDMA VIDEOS
This is a shooting demonstration of the Sig Sauer P226, and, unfortunately, also a look at the issues this pistol has been having. Fail to feeds, and front sight is off. I know the Sig P226 is a great pistol. My friend, who loaned me this pistol, and I, are trying to get to the bottom of why he keeps having problems with this P226

Here is my input. I realize you have cleaned the pistol and magazine, but have you changed magazines? I have been a "Sig" guy for more than a few years, the P226 has been a mainstay of my gun safe since I was 21. In that time, I have never had the issues you are describing. That being said, I have heard of theses issues happening with just about every type of handgun out there. Kimber to Glock.

So, I would do two things. First, try different magazines. Next, take it to a local qualified gunsmith and have him/her look it over. Could be something small that is just missing your eyes. Perhaps a spring issue or extractor one. Next is back to Sig. Now, I believe that you mentioned that the accuracy issues have been in something that you have had happen with multiple Sigs. Ok, could be that for you, they just need some sight adjustment. I shoot fine with Sig, Glock, S&W all right out of the box, but Ruger I need to adjust. Thats just me.

What's the round count on the recoil spring? Have you tried a different magazine? Has the extractor been removed and cleaned?

It is a BRAND NEW PISTOL....

It sucks.

Sorry Sig fan boys.

We get that it is brand new, but you still have not answered any question posed to you.

Every firearm manufacturer out there has horror stories. Sorry that it seems like your friend has one of them. Why should I be sorry? All my P226 and other Sigs have performed flawlessly.

The pistol is brand new, no more than 1,000 rounds through it.

Oh, the trigger is as sturdy feeling as one of my cap guns when I was a kid.

I particularly like the way you stuff the pistol under your arm pointed in the wrong direction rather than using a shooting table or holstering the weapon while you're working on the magazine.

I had a Glock that was the same way as the Sig you're testing. I couldn't get the damn thing on target and could count on at least on FTF with any 50 round box you gave me. It was back to "the shop" twice before I said enough was enough. Now happily driving a XD. So I guess no matter who the manufacturer is, you can get that bad apple.

An empty pistol is an empty pistol, but I know you Internet safety Nazis get your jollies from this kind of comment, so, have your little fun.

And range safety is range safety so you "holier than tho because I produce videos knuckle heads" can have your fun demonstrating bad habits. A cavalier attitude toward range safety is no kind of message to send to anyone, especially in what is supposed to be an informational video. And it's not INTERNET safety, it's RANGE safety.

You put a lot of good information out here but, sorry, when you do something stupid your gonna get pinged on it. If you can't take the criticism, you're in the wrong line of work.

Hope you work out the Sig issue. Cheers!

Great way to make friends and illicit help. Your first post after mine made me decide not to waste any further time with your post. Both my P226's run fine.

it looked like the failure to feed issue was on the first rounds of the magazine? is that right?

i think the magazine spring might need replacing. any kind of kink when the spring is totally depressed could cause problems. or maybe a rough spot inside the magazine or follower. you never know, could be as simple as that.

Yes, when it does fail, it fails on the first few rounds in the magazine.

I've been advised to get a different brand magazine, we'll see what happens, thanks for the advice.

Try checking the following 2 things:

1. Does the magazine say "Made in Italy" anywhere on it? (will be stamped in) If not it's one of the crappy Promag magazines. Try to find a different known good mag. Sig sources them from a few vendors and only the Mec-gar ones are completely trustworthy. If it isn't a Mec-gar and is causing the problems call Sig. They well send you a Mec-gar replacement on request.

2. Did anyone take the mag apart to clean it or check it out? Check that the mag spring is properly oriented. I've seen feed issues like yours when the mag spring has been accidentally put in backwards.

Hope you manage to fix it quickly. The P226 is a phenomenal gun. I have a 2012 P226 with a thousand rounds through it and it has been flawless.

Good luck!

Even though you don't deserve this advice, get rid of the OEM mags and get Mecgar or old German Sig mags with dovetail or zipper backs. New OEM Sigs mags are Checkmate and they suck... like you and your videos do.

Somehow I get the feeling that you were the kind of little kid that always ended up smashing his models with a hammer less than 1/2 way through trying to put them together.

lol, a "brand new pistol with less than 1,000 rounds". why not just say it's new to you? You don't have to be embarrassed that you can't afford a real "new" one y'know....
