In the market for my first shoulder rig. I hear leather is the best and expensive as well. I am just overwhelmed on all of the different manufacturers out there and would like to hear everyone's experiences and thoughts. Budgeting for $150 ish to start for my Ruger SR40
I got an Alessi because they're in my backyard. Good customer service, and most people speak highly of their quality. Good reputation. I carry a full size 1911 and two spare mags easily concealed. Its the only shoulder holster I have experience with, but I would recommend it. From what I hear Galco is another good company.
I have one from Tagua Gunleather and like it. (I am a dealer of their products and purchased one for myself as part of my initial order, not letting that bias affect my response, but I haven't used any others.) It is light and not unwieldy. I do have and use four of Tagua's holsters and their quality is very good. They offer a leather and a nylon version of shoulder holster, can't say anything about the nylon.
I have a couple shoulder rigs. I like the Galco VHS for my 1911. It's offers a cleaner draw and feels more natural to grab the grip with your palm down than palm facing your side with a horizontal rig.
i found one in a tenants apt after they moved out years ago ...never thought i'd use one at the time and sold it at the flea market for five dollars .......i should have checked the price of those things before selling it but still was a free five bucks to me
