Should all states allow reciprocity for Concealed Carry Permit holders?

Nationwide reciprocity, including Illinois, should go with the comity doctrines of federalism. If you disagree, or agree please let me know.

This is certainly a double-edge sword. To me either way I loose, we lose. Should everyone be allowed to conceal carry? Yes. No one should be denied a basic American and human right to defend him or herself with the use of deadly force if deadly force is indicated. Should we have permits? No. No one should have to be “Allowed” to speak freely, write whatever he or she chooses, worship however he or she choose. Nevertheless, should we allow a person the “Right” to sacrifice another person for his or her spiritual belief? Should I have to ask the government for permission to read my holy book(s), print whatever I wish to print either by hand or with a typewriter? No. Do I want eighteen year olds to carry a Sig or Glock with 15 rounds? Yes and no. some 55 year olds I know should not have a butter knife, they are irresponsible. Is texting while driving and eating a donut a good idea, if not who should decide? I shall not use the very tired phrase Common Sense in conjunction with anything because the Sara Brady and other Communist use this all the dammed time. However, not everyone I have attempted to qualify with a weapon has passed. Not every one of my close relatives should have a weapon. I do not know who should be given a Glock-17 and who should be denied the right. If you figure this one out message me. I am going to be out in the open and say, yes, every single American Citizen should be trained in how to handle a vehicle, knife, shotgun, long gun and a handgun and if we figure out who qualifies a responsible American to do this . . . I am at a loss.

I always wondered how the moral and good character of a man changes just because he crossed a state line.

it cuts both ways.

What he said.

I think using the force of governmnet for this can and will open up a door for them to do something else in the future. The double-edge sword cuts both ways.

I agree that the term "Common Sense" is over used but we have many other areas in our lives where that prevails. As a commercial truck driver for over 35 years I've seen a system of testing and qualifying that although imperfect does require drivers to qualify and meet a certain standard before getting an endorsement for pulling doubles/triples or tanks or even hazardous materials. By setting certain standards that are fair and equitable all applicants are given the right to qualify. If they can't meet the standard then they don't get the endorsement. Qualifiers should never be political affiliation or class based but based on a pass fail competency scale. With that said I firmly believe that if you qualify you should be able to qualify in every state, much like the aforementioned commercial drivers license (CDL).

I believe that one should show proficiency in weapons handling prior to being issued a permit to carry concealed. Once you have it, it should be honored by every state. I also believe that the renewal of a permit should be based on recertificaion of proficiency with the handling of your weapon(s).
Reciprocity should be automatic for those with the proper permits.

Should all states likewise be required to allow concealed carry in bars, churches, hospitals, stadiums and voting booths? A man's good character doesn't change when he walks through a door anymore than when he crosses a state line.

I believe the Illinois state government is so corrupt that they are too afraid to allow their citizens to be armed. They have been proven to be the most corrupt of all of the states.

Should one be required to take a test to Vote? or go to church?

Bars, churches, hospitals and stadiums are all private property...No State should be able to set law prohibiting carry in these locations.

Why yes...I do think that people should take a test to be able to vote. And I should be the one to administer it! Ha Ha
Also, not to argue but many, many hospitals and stadiums are not private property but government built, owned and run. Give Obama time and the bars and churches will become government entities too; just like GM.

Agreed.

Now for the other shoe - should bars, churches, and stores be able to ban concealed carry?

I don't believe one state's law should govern another state. However, I have legally obtained a CCW in my home state and I believe it should be recognized in ANY other state that allows CCW. I also agree with a statement made further up the line, that not everyone should be allowed to carry in any state. As an ex-law enforcement officer I have known a few cops/ex-cops that have no business having a weapon of any kind. Just my 2 cents.

all States or National Carry

Big mistake...its just another way to pick apart our 2nd Amendment Right to Bear Arms. Do you really think a person/Criminal is really going to keep up whats legal and whats not? Its a joke and if we do this we are playing into the hands of thoae who want to grab our "Legally obtained" Firearms!

No man should have the power to legalaly deprive a person from having the means to defend themselves! Stores, States, private businesses, I mean no one!

If this statement is to imply that a FEDERAL LAW be passed, that of which OVER-RULES a particular STATES LAWS on the subject, then the answer is NO.

No matter how much I wish every state would do things MY WAY, it SHOULDN'T work that way in a REPUBLIC.
