I would just like to know how many of you think that all homeowners should own guns. I truly can't decide whether or not our household should purchase one. Please give any and all feedback. Thanks

Yes. It's a fact that places where a very high % of dwellings have guns in them have a much lower rate of property-related crime. Israel and Switzerland come to mind.

A gun and a gun safe in every home (except certain ex-offenders).

"If' the homeowner has enough 'common sense' and knows how to properly handle and store a firearm, then my answer is 'Yes Definately'.
However, If the homeowner lacks any common sense, then my answer is 'Probably Not'.
I could not vote, because your poll does not fit those criteria.

Based on this site= "USA Carry". I imagine you will get a Yes to carry vote. Plus I agree wth the common sense adder.

Whether owning a handgun is the best choice for all homeowners is a matter of opinion; most homeowners, however, should own some kind of weapon for home defense purposes. It takes time for police to respond to 9-1-1 calls, and exiting a house to escape a BG is not always possible; you need to be able to defend yourself and your family in the meantime. Many security experts believe that a shotgun is probably the best weapon for home defense; considering the hoops through which a person must jump in many states to purchase a handgun, it is significantly easier to get your hands on a shotgun than a handgun. I personally prefer my handguns; I've never been a big fan of shotguns, although I have owned them.

Owning a handgun, for that matter any gun, requires personal responsibility, good judgment and training. If you don't have all three maybe you should arrange a different defense. When seconds count police will be there in minutes and in many cases hours. If you live in rural counties, with shrinking public safety budgets, it will more likely be hours.

I think all home owners should have the option of owning a handgun (or shot gun or rifle) for home defense but I wouldn't make it a requirement.

If you choose to purchase a firearm I suggest you also invest in an NRA basic pistol course and a pistol safe.

Take a basic gun safety course, buy a gun, go to the range and shoot, if you don't like it sell it. Also, did you post this same poll on the Brady Campaign or other anti-gun website to get the other side's opinion?

History and YouTube have shown over and over that not all people should possess guns. You can educate ignorance but you can't fix stupid is a saying that certainly holds true for this thread.

As stated earlier, all people should be able to own a gun, unless stupidity has already disqualified them.

I couldn't vote either, same reason as yours. I'll add or replace your use of "common sense" with "responsible" To answer the question >>>> No, only the households that would have common sense, responsible owners that are ever vigilant in following safe gun rules!

I voted yes

Perfect answer to the question

The problem with the common sense rule is who gets to decide? How about unless your actions have proven you unfit to own a firearm you get to have one?

Why is this your first post?

Are you attempting to use us for your political purpose?

Every citizen should be responsible enough to provide their own protection. If you expect others to protect your family, you are whacked!

I voted yes in the poll...but would vote no to your OP. The word "all" changes things.

I think you are asking this question for a different reason; not because you cant decide if you should own one.

If you are trying to do research, you chose the wrong place to do it. Its like asking a Harley forum if you should buy a Harley as your next motorcycle.

If you are truly wondering if you should buy a gun, don't rely on us to decide for you. You have to make that decision.

What he said......

The options in the poll are like most surveys of this type that it cannot be answered correctly ultimately showing exactly what the creator of the poll wanted to show in the first place. In fact the title of the OP and the title of the poll are different demonstrating the error of the results before anyone votes.

I think that anyone who is not restricted from owning a gun due to past actions (convicted felons etc.) should be allowed to have a gun in their home if they want one. As others have pointed out there are many that shouldn't but until the prove otherwise they should not be prohibited. This includes the people of Washington, DC. I don't think every home should have one but they should have the right to own one if they desire.

"All"? Every single one? Each and every person, without any criteria whatsoever, who owns a home regardless of any and all situations, abilities, mental facilities, etc... No.

Really?

A poll like this is much like walking into a bar and polling the patrons about prohibition. The only interesting find would be that how many are "on the fence".
