Shooting on private property

This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Now, as we know, excessive intake of alcohol kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. I bet the Texans on this forum follow the gun rule of....Know your target, what's around it and what's behind it.
 
I live in Texas and this guys a nut and doesn't know Texas law. He mentions the guy that shot two felons. Texas law states that you can use the force YOU deem necessary to stop the commission of a felony. The two guys robbed the neighbors house, he called the police and went outside to confront the robbers. The robbers came towards him and he shot one in the chest with a 12 gauge shotgun, the other turned to run and he shot him also. He stopped the commission of a felony and defended himself at the same time. He also mis-states the law about shooting on your own property. You don't need ten acres. Your bullet can not leave your property. You can not shoot across a public road.

Personally, my opinion, he doesn't need to drive north, south, east or west. He just needs to shut up and enjoy living in the free Republic of Texas. If he doesn't like it here, he just needs to sneak across our southern border and enjoy the current climate in Mexico, the coyotes bring people north and will also take them south.

I was born and raised in Texas just a few miles from the Navy base in Corpus Christi. I've known many navy vets and none of them have your opinion. My son is currently in the Navy and he is laughing his head off at this moment at your comments. Yes there are a few idiots running around who shouldn't have a firearm in their hand but what is so sad is the fact that you don't know the difference between what an idiot does and what responsible gun owners do. Because of this inability to distinguish between the two, you become a threat to all of us who are responsible. Get a life, report irresponsible acts and don't judge the rest of us by actions of a few.
 
I live in Montgomery County,TX near Lake Conroe and my neighbor is shooting 50 Caliber and automatics on his 20 acres. Other neighbors are complaining of the noise and they think it's me because I live on 40 acres. I am new to the county. Can someone please tell me if 20 acres is okay? The sound is obviously effecting some people. Thanks.
 
You have an inconsiderate neighbor but other than that all I can say is that he has the legal right to fire a weapon on his own property. The only stipulations that I know of is that the bullet can't leave your property and you can't shoot across a public road. Now if your property is inside the city limits, then there might be a local law about discharging a firearm.

The second ammendment does not say anything against foreign enemies that is as understood as defending thyself.

The Marines need to keep educating those liberal sailors.

It has nothing to do with how much property you own. It has to do with how close you are to a road or conveyance when you fire your weapon. You also cannot shoot across a road or conveyance. If you're on 40 acres, and you wander out to the middle of your property, you're probably legal, and the neighbors can go fondle themselves. (I think the minimum distance to a road is 150 yards, but you should check the state/county laws before you quote me on that.
 
Hey nightmare, I guess it's okay for you. I'm mot looking to silence guns, we shoot on our property, too, but it seems unsafe to shoot assault rifles at night when a neighbor is50 feet away.
 
I guess this guy won't be voting for Rick Perry for President. (Just a hunch)

Out of respect for my neighbors I try not to keep them up at night, I assume you are in Texas as I am, have you tried just asking if he could tone it down, works with most folks I know. If you are not in neighborhood with noise ordinance then you might have a problem. Or you could move to NY, IL or CA.
 
He has no respect for his neighbors and it now seems that there are others in the
neighborhood equally fed up. We are all gun owners but firing military grade assault rifles in the direction of several poeple's property is not safe. Too many stray bullets.

You're obviously living in the wrong neighborhood and also not communicating any better with your neighbors than with the folks here. If you were, they would know it's not you "shooting at night, 50 feet away from neighbors".

I recommend you immediately move. Like you said, YOU are the newcomer. You moved into THEIR domain. Adapt or leave.

So Navyvet, what are you suggesting? We all turn in our guns or where exactly are you going with your rant? I am not trying to diss you but what's your solution?
