Shooting in Wal-mart Parking Lot

On Christmas Eve in a town in VA, two customers were waiting for the same parking spot. The 1 customer got the spot and as he was getting out of his car, the other guy jumps out of his car with a baseball bat and begins yelling & screaming as be walks towards the guy (the guy who got the parking spot). He then swings the bat and hits (parking spot guy) and brakes his arm as he is blocking the attack & protecting his head & obviously his life. The victim is hit again as he reaches into his car to get his gun. He comes out and fires, shooting his attacker in the leg. Even though there were plenty of witnesses both were arrested. I don't believe that the victim will be charged. Hopefully not anyway. But this just proves Again why a gun is very Necessary in today's society. Especially if you're a Law Abiding Citizen. And for all of the anti-gun folks out there, a baseball bat can kill also. And just think Mr.& Mrs. Anti/Ban Guns, this could have very well been YOU, getting attacked at your local Wal-mart on Christmas Eve as you were doing your last minute shopping.

If had to be made out of aluminum, that's what makes a baseball bat an "assault bat" instead of a "sporting bat"!

I always thought since you can use a stick to take out someone’s eye that anything wood was a assault weapon (guess I was wrong thanks for the heads up).

Edit to addd: maybe we should ban trees just to be on the safe side?

It appears that the altercation originally started as some type of road rage incident before both parties moved into the Walmart parking lot. According to the article, the victim of the baseball bat attack was released on a $5,000 bond, while his attacker was held without bail.

Beal was treated and released for a fracture to his right arm and Davis was treated and released for a gunshot wound to his leg.
Robert Alonzo Beal has been charged with one misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct and was released on a $5000 unsecured bond.
Davis has been charged with malicious wounding, a felony, and jailed without bond.

I have to wonder why the victim was arrested and charged in what appears to be a self-defense case.

Ban aluiminum Bats and wood ones. Only nerf bats should be legal. Lets make it a UN initiative, and throw out all upcomming gun ban laws.:)

The scumbag with the baseball bat is one lucky s.o.b.
Most folks I know would have shot him @ center mass in the chest area, not his upper thigh area.

Firing with one hand and a broken arm, maybe he was trying for C.O.M., but the best he got was upper thigh. Either way, I'd say he was probably glad he even hit the attacker given his condition at the time.
