shooting in the cracker barrel

Right in Cleveland Ohio where I live can't find a news link it's all over Facebook ...

Damn, something similar happened in my town few years back. Couple broke up, one shot and killed the other in the parking lot.

I eat there all the time, that is why I go do not go anywhere without Mr. Glock 30 !!

Prayers to the victims!

Crap. My Company's warehouse is not far from there and I normally stay across the street at the Hampton and eat at that CB all the time. I guess from now on my orders will be carry out.

Sounds like you're simply paranoid. Just carry your EDC and don't worry about anything.
To me, it's just THAT much more incentive to be vigilant and practice....

As my good friend once said, "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: For thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff (thou trusty 1911), they comfort me."

Crap. <SNIP> I guess from now on my orders will be carry out.

Of all of the types of situations that I tend to think about most it's getting in the middle of a domestic dispute where a lunatic comes for the ex and takes out all around her. Just think about how many abusive relationships are out there and how many people I work with or patronage their business with no clue what's going on behind the scenes. I think that is a highly more likely scenario than getting robbed but maybe I'm wrong. Sympathies to the victims.

Sad, very sad. Very tragic. I hate hearing this type of thing as much as anyone else. People have been killing people with guns as long as guns have been around. That is not going to stop, as long as there are guns and people. Unfortunately, it does give the anti-gunners ammo (aint that a hell of a paradox?) against guns. Once again we, as honorable gun owners must try to educate people to the fact that if guns are illegal, we, they, and everyone else who doesn't have an illegal gun are S_C_R_E_W_E_D! This will be a continuous battle. But I don't think I have said anything that we all don't know and are not aware of. Let's wish each other lots of luck and Godspeed.

With Ohio's recent improvements in concealed carry laws, with armed off duty LEOs among us and with this happening in a busy place like Cracker Barrel, I'm surprised someone didn't attempt to stop him when he entered the building with a shotgun. At least I haven't read any account of someone trying to. We all need to be more vigilant . . . but not vigilantes. I understand how quickly these events go down but I grieve for that mom and her daughters and I've never met them.

No one can ever really say what they may do under any particular set of circumstances but confronting a complete stranger armed with a shotgun outside of my home who wasn't coming directly at me would not be a likely situation at least before he already begins to shoot. Just processing this situation in light of the location would be challenging enough mentally but to say I'd unholster and put rounds in him before he fired a shot if for example I just saw him walk in and I was not nearby is highly unlikely. I would think taking cover first would be my initial reaction then unfortunately the victims would have likely been shot. If I had an obviously clear shot at that point who knows. Possibly start firing? But unfortunately lunatic with a shotgun and nothing to lose would seem to have the upper hand on me with a 9mm. How am I suppose to know he's not wearing armor? Then I just exposed myself to a deadly situation that might not otherwise have been so for me. Precisely, why I carry for my protection and not to act as law enforcement. Because if I know I have no choice then I simply have no choice and I'm going down with a fight. But to take it upon myself to stop a threat to others is a slippery slope. Would it feel better to know after the fact that you saved lives rather than know you did nothing but maybe could have? Sure. But lessening the risk of death to myself is the number one goal. Especially considering all the anti carry people out there. I'm not here to protect them.
