Shhh…Violent Crime is at a 42-Year Low and No One Thinks You Should Know

With the main stream media so focused on their fascination with glorifying mass murderers in the United States, it seems they have forgotten to report on this new low in violent crime. But while it is not as “sensational”, it is important to report the FACTS about violence in the US instead of just guessing about it through the prism of what’s reported on the 6 o’clock news.

Nraila.org has reported on a recent crime report by the FBI for 2012, and in spite of it being excellent news for every American, apparently the news is not good enough for our dear president to even mention, especially amidst a nationwide gun buying frenzy.

Last week, the FBI released its national crime report for 2012. By a slight margin, the nation’s violent crime rate decreased in 2012–relative to 2011–making it the lowest it has been since 1970. Compared to 1991, when it hit an all-time high, violent crime is down by 49 percent. The nation’s murder rate was unchanged in 2012; still lower than any time since 1963 and at nearly an all-time low.

Rather than stating the facts of gun violence, our president has chosen to only use tragic shootings as launching pads for political talking points that demonize gun owners and shift the blame from the actual shooters. In the recent “eulogy” for the Navy Yard shooting victims he declared it “an epidemic of gun violence [that] tears apart communities across America.”

As long as facts like this are ignored and replaced with more highlights of what law-abiding gun owners DON’T do, the more blind followers of the anti-gun movement will believe their own rhetoric that guns are the real problem and it’s only getting worse.

Try telling the average person on the street that violent crime is at a new 42-year low in the US and he/she will probably think you’re crazy.

Washington Times’ writer Emily Miller was not about to let President Obama get away with his silence on this important crime report while he travels the country promising more change to our gun laws and promoting his health care law.

“Not once has the president remarked on these numbers. Neither has [anti-gun] New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg,” Miller wrote. ”The liberal media pretend the statistics are written in invisible ink. Why the blackout? Because all violent crime–including gun homicide–has gone down over the last 20 years. The gun murder rate has gone from 6.62 per 100,000 inhabitants in 1993 to 3.27 in 2012, a decline of more than 50 percent.

It doesn't bleed so it doesn't lead. You might find that printed somewhere near the back of section A in a newspaper.

Howdy Navy Seal,

If you would spend more time in the real world and less time in your Mom's basement.....uh, I mean your "Command Post" you would realize that the "numbers" are fudged by the Man.

I'll use the city of Little Rock, AR as an example:

LEO respond to a man lying in the street. Cops notice the man has been shoot several times and is DRT ( Died Right There ). Cops ask if anyone saw what happens and everyone says "No." So the Man records the cause of death as "Unknown".

Since the cause of death is listed as "unknown" the incident isn't recorded as a homicide or as a violent crime. In fact it isn't even listed as a crime eventhough it was a homicide and not just a homicide, it was a drive-by shooting.

When Little Rock started doing this in 2001 they went from being the murder capital of America to one of the safer cities in America just by a stroke of a pen.

Go figure.

Paul

Nice remark Stengun(that was uncalled for)Opsspec posted reports, articals and commented on it.That's all.You say the MAN is covering things up by listing deaths under another cause in places(and your right)and if I'm not mistaking this happens in other places also.but do really think this is the reason these reports are coming out this way.you really believe that the MAN YOU speak of would let it(with our honest government being like it is)with all the deaths in Chicago and NewYork, you know the gun free safe zones in our country happening, that it's.a.cover.up?HHHHHMMMMM,well that's.your opinion and you are.entitled to it as is OPS to his.But personally the remarks.at.the beginning were uncalled for.The rest of it might have turned into a really.good discussion, for what it's worth.

Better put your tinfoil hat back on and take your reasoning a step further.... I'm sure that there are other cities in the US where the "MAN" has figured out that violent crime could be mis-reported or mis-categorized to make it "look" like they are safer than they really are. So, lets take it further....and assume that most cities have figured this out....and since Mayors and Police Commissioners go to conventions and meetings, then it could be argued that the vast majority of crime-ridden cities are doing this.....BUT WAIT....wouldn't this mean that the cities with lower real crime rates would appear to go up?

I'm not sure you can prove your hypothesis given sufficient statistical data. Maybe your 'anecdotal evidence' regarding Little Rock has skewed your thinking and analysis.
Oppspec has quoted and provided a link to the article he referred to, where's your data?

Better keep the tinfoil hat on, I hear the MAN has ways to scan your thoughts.... and cause vibration in your head.
P.S. I've never been one to call anyone names, but thought it was 'as appropriate' as your comments to Opsspec. To other posters, Thanks for supporting Opsspec and his service.

Stengun may have been unnecessarily sarcastic and I don't know about Little Rock but governments are well known to propagandize crime statistics. I've read several reports that Treyvon Martin wasn't arrested at school for his locker contents because of a concerted drive to lower the black high school student crime statistics and was suspended instead. True? Dunno. I wasn't there but I've read it on several reliable (?) sources. The nature of human nature is to have an agenda and many use lies, damn lies and statistics to support their agenda. Believe nothing, verify everything and then make counter accusations.
