CHEHALIS, Wash. -- The Lewis County Prosecutor's Office will investigate theLink Removed at a Chehalis home Sunday morning. But the county sheriff said the homeowner acted within the law when he shot the stranger.
Sheriff Steve Mansfield called the shooting a "classic case" of self-defense.
Shortly before five a.m. Sunday the homeowner's wife called 9-1-1 to report a stranger walking around the outside of their home. About 15 minutes later, the man was in the home.
Police say the suspect got in through an unlocked door.
According to detectives, the homeowner grabbed his gun and told the man if he didn't leave, he'd be shot.
When the intruder ran at the man, he shot the intruder once in the stomach.
The homeowner wrestled with the intruder and held him until police arrived.
Mansfield said he supports a homeowner's right to defend themselves with a deadly weapon.
"We live in a pretty dark world," said Mansfield, "And you cannot depend on law enforcement and your government to protect you in every aspect of your life."
Mansfield said that guns are not for everyone, but he did recommend families take precautions around the home to protect themselves.
He suggested motion-activated lights or guard dogs for homeowners who do not feel comfortable around guns.
Like the man says,"And you cannot depend on law enforcement and your government to protect you in every aspect of your life."
The truth will set you free or at least make you understand the only person who can or will protect you, is yourself!

It's sad we have to justify our actions against someone who is clearly breaking the law and putting our families in potentially life-threatening situations.

With My Wife an I both armed and at the ready, God help the stupid fool that enters our house and threatens us. 10 rounds center mass!!! Yes she is a good shot. The only person in her clasws to score 100 on both the .357 mag, and .45ACP.

It's like I've said to many more people than I would like to remember.
"Why do you feel that you must have a gun?"
"To protect myself and my family."
"Cain't you just call 911?"
"Sure I can, but we must stay alive until they show up!"
