At least seven people, including some from Michigan, have been arrested in raids by a FBI-led Joint Terrorism Task Force in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana as part of an investigation into an Adrian-based Christian militia group, a person familiar with the matter said.

Another local paper comment section attached to a similar story has some of the most racial and hateful comment I have seen in a long time.

Nice, all those Muslim extremists in Detroit and they found one wacko "Christian" group. I put Christian in quotes because Christians would not be terrorists and would only use firearms for self-defense.

Go to Clickondetroit.com.....I have followed this story closely and even our Michigan Militia leaders have denounced this radical group and are in fact assisting law enforcement in shedding light on the group that has been arrested.

Just when do you think that those fringe Militia groups will figure out that this is not the way to influence others and make friends......

Well if they claim to be Christian, own guns and distrust the government that must make them terrorists right?:fie:

So the manufacture of IED's should be over looked? Fringe or not, this isn't right. Don't agree with all the ATF and other LEO's are sometimes involved in. Don't think all the laws on the books are right. But this group ain't the good guys IMHO! You want to change the laws, there's ways to do it.

On a lighter note, how many did they plan to bag and send to Allah?

It don't matter what religion (if any) they to cloak themselves with. That's window dressing meant to confuse the issue, to form a constitutional shield (however flimsy) to hide behind, and to mislead the easily led. Jim Jones was supposedly a Christian, too, so look how that turned out.

I don't care if they call themselves Christian, Shiite, Sunni or Animists. If they are the dangerous nut jobs they appear to be, then the cops did all of us a favor taking them off the streets. If these folks were making bombs and planning to blow them up, they were a danger to the public and needed to be stopped. If they had carried out what they are accused of plotting, a LOT of folks would be screaming that the government isn't doing enough. Do you really think blowing up IED's at a funeral is a good thing? Do you think that the bombs were only gonna kill who they wanted to attack? What about the dead LEO's family? Well wishers? The old lady visiting her husband's grave 20 yards away? Get real folks. Explosives are equal opportunity. If you are within the blast range, you are toast.

These folks were arrested under a sealed federal warrant. I ain't one to put a whole lot of trust in the Federal government but I know that Federal judges don't hand sealed warrants out like party favors.

Let's see the evidence before we start hollering about jackboots and black helicopters.

Funny, you could make all those same arguments about just about all the violent actions of any military in the world. It's ok as long as the madness is government-backed. I'm sure even our revolution resulted in the deaths of innocent bystanders. It all depends on who writes the history books. I'm afraid in the end it may be the Muslims. Our only hope is the return of our Savior.

What military was involved in this instance??

There's various levels of law enforcement involved but no military from the reports I've read. If I missed something, then please give me a link.

Then there's the other side. There's a bunch of nut jobs (and if they are guilty of what they are accused of, I'd classify them as dangerous AND crazy) that have decided that the law of the land and those of our society don't apply to them and planned on imposing their will on the rest of society through violent means aimed at the folks that have the duly constituted authority to enforce the law.

You got a bunch of folks that have decided that law enforcement is their enemy and are going to blow up some home made bombs at a cop's funeral. A FUNERAL. They weren't going to try to blow them up at the local FOP meeting or the neighborhood precinct house. They were going to attack a funeral. What's next? The McDonald's drive thru? I bet a cop goes through it every day at sometime or another.

Explain to me why this little band of misfits and paranoids should be allowed to force their will upon the rest of America through the threat of violence.

Oh, and don't try to make this about religion because it's not. Christianity has nothing to do with what they were doing. Beware of false prophets, you'll know them by their fruit, .... Those who sow hate and discord and violence only want hate and discord and violence. And I don't remember the verse in the Bible where it says to blow up funerals or to attack policemen with bombs. All religion was to this group (or at least its' hierarchy) was a convenient vehicle to use to attract followers, push their agenda and something to wrap up in and yell about Constitutional Rights when someone speaks out against their tripe.

It's funny, groups like this one are always fast to embrace the 1st Amendment of the Constitution of a government they want to topple. Pardon me if my hypocrisy doesn't go that far.

Whoa, whoa, whoa...you've already got 'em convicted, brother. Based soley on the word of the gov't?

Not at all JJ. Guilt or innocence is for the courts to decide. As I said in both posts, if they are guilty of what they are accused of, then they were an obvious threat to society in general.

Sorry, I can't condone what they are accused of nor even understand the though processes that led to it. As a Christian, I will not sit idly by as yet another part of the lunatic fringe try to hide behind religion to push their own little agenda. Heck, Christians have a bad enough name in the world thanks to the Catholic church, we don't need any more bad press.

I don't think Catholics have a lock on reprehensible behavior. According to Cal Thomas:

"God knows -- and He does -- Protestants shouldn't be throwing stones at the Roman Catholic Church for the scandals involving the abuse of children by some priests. Protestants have a blemished history of how they have handled their own scandals involving extramarital sex, misappropriated funds and arrogant behavior.

The hall of shame in the last century includes Aimee Semple McPherson (an alleged affair with her radio engineer, Kenneth Ormiston), Garner Ted Armstrong (Hustler magazine carried a story in September of 1978 called "In Bed with Garner Ted Armstrong -- America's Promiscuous Preacher," which detailed gambling, adultery and the alleged rape of a young stewardess who worked on his private jet), Jim Bakker (sex with his secretary), Jimmy Swaggart (sex with a prostitute) and Ted Haggard (sex with a man), among too many others."

It sounds like Tim McVeigh times 8. Perhaps they are innocent. That is why we have a justice system.

Yeah, but all the "sounds" we are hearing are coming from the gov't. Look how those "sounds" have seemingly persuaded many on this site that these were fringe kooks. How do we know what is truth? By the "picture" that the gov't paints?

It is these same "sounds" that are convincing many people that we, as advocates of our 2A rights, are also fringe kooks. We need to be discerning in our judgement. Question and verify...
