The following is a proposal that was supposedly sent to the Arkansas Legislature for review by Arkansas Circuit Court Judge Wendell Griffin (Link Removed).

I saw this on another Gun Forum. This guy is a Circuit Court Judge. I would think this guy would know the difference between RIGHTS and
Privileges !
I mean Holy crap he's a judge!

SERIOUS GUN CONTROL
©Wendell Griffen

Across the United States, people are shaking their heads and searching for answers after what happened
in Newtown, Connecticut. But let no one be mistaken or deceived. The Sandy Hook Elementary School
massacre on December 14 was not an aberration. Except for the number and ages of the murder victims
in that tragedy, death and injury associated with firearms is sadly commonplace in the United States.

Once again, people are asking if gun control can be seriously undertaken. But this problem is not beyond
solving. Here are some suggestions.

1. Regulate all gun ownership. A firearm is a deadly weapon. We should, therefore, impose a blanket
requirement that all firearms be registered with state authorities who must share registration data with
the federal government (such as the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms within the U.S. Justice
Department). We already have such a registration requirement for motor vehicles. We need to impose a
similar requirement on firearms.

2. Require licensing and thorough evaluation before people can own firearms. Every gun owner
should be licensed only after undergoing a thorough background search with a physical and mental
examination regulated by law enforcement agencies. They should also be required to renew the license
in two or four year intervals. We require evaluation and governmental testing before a person is licensed
to drive. We need that kind of regulatory approach for gun ownership. And the background check to own
a firearm should be as stringent as the checks used before people are chosen to use them in law
enforcement. Simply put, if a person isn't socially, physically, and emotionally fit to be trusted with a
firearm to protect and serve society, he or she shouldn't be licensed to own a firearm privately.

3. Penalties for violating the law as a gun owner should be strengthened. When lawyers,
accountants, and airline pilots commit crimes and other anti-social behavior, that information is
considered relevant on whether they should remain licensed. We should also treat anti-social behavior
as a red flag when it comes to gun ownership. Gun ownership must be considered a trust. Unlawful
conduct should be viewed as breach of that trust.

4. Ban private ownership of assault rifles and high capacity magazines. Military-style weapons
should be restricted to the military and law enforcement. People who want to use assault rifles should
join the military or law enforcement where they can serve and protect society, not potentially endanger it.
To get existing assault rifles out of civilian circulation, the state and federal authorities should create
a "buy back" system. People who aren't in the military or law enforcement have no more reason to
possess assault rifles and similar weaponry and ammunition than possess fighter aircraft, howitzers, and
battle tanks and ammunition for them.

5. Impose higher insurance rates on gun owners. Gun owners pose a higher risk for committing
violence. Their home, life, auto, health, and disability insurance policies should reflect that risk.

6. Require liability insurance for every gun. Guns, like automobiles, cause deaths and injuries.
Liability insurance should be a requirement with each gun sale or trade as it is required for motor
vehicles. Failure to carry liability insurance should result in penalties ranging from fines, license
suspension, to forfeiture of the uninsured firearm.

These measures won't eliminate gun violence. Similar measures don't eliminate highway fatalities and
injuries caused by reckless, inattentive, negligent, or incompetent driving. However, these measures
can go a long way toward reducing gun violence and protecting society from the proliferation of barely
regulated firearms.

Finally, religious and other leaders should embrace these suggestions and take the lead in urging their
implementation. We've been timid far too long. It's time to stand up to the forces of intolerance, fear,
hate, greed, and the idolatry of violence.

We have serious work to do. The gun lobby and its supporters will mount a fierce opposition to anything
that hints at a more robust regulatory system. Let's prove ourselves ready, willing, and able to resist and
overcome that opposition and reduce the gun violence epidemic in our society.

This guy is a menace to society he thinks our Second Amendment Rights is equal to the privilege to drive!
He's a judge for CRIPES SAKE!!!

We could maybe look at Mexican gun control. It is illegal for citizens to own guns. Seems to be working fine, except for the mass killing and all.

Problem is a Federal Judge is there for LIFE. The only way they are thrown out is by another Judge proposing it. Yeah that will happen. Judges feel they are above the laws that regulate us. They do not even have to go to a class to carry concealed. The vast majority if you could met them would scare the hell out of you knowing they are armed! The Marshals that guard them arent even happy about that.

They are typical of the majority of elected and appointed positions, the laws do not apply to us, only those that are beneath our positions.

Do you think that being a judge automatically means that he respects and believes in the US Constitution as written? Don't you hear about the idiot judges that do things like letting pedophiles walk, prosecute coaches for bowing their head during a football game, or ruling against the will of the American people by issuing injunctions against "propositions" voted for on state ballots?

These current times are such a teachable moment.....and I'm not beating you up, I'm educating.

Most of the garbage ideas that the American left believes in could never be passed as legislation. So here come left-leaning judges, who use their incredible power to "legislate from the bench" by passing rulings that are now precedent to be used in every other American court, including the Supreme Court. These judges hate America just like the rest of the left does, and would destroy this country as founded.

Does it not puzzle you that the US Supreme Court ruled (in so many words) that the Second Amendment guarantees the right to bear arms by 5-4? That means that four of the nine highest judges in the land do not believe in the 2A as written!

Again, for the hundredth time in a couple of weeks....THIS IS NOT ABOUT GUN CONTROL!!! It is about people control. It is part of a 100+ year scheme to "fundamentally change" this country. Gun control is just part of it. Tax increases are part of it. Bashing the rich and blaming them for all of America's problems is part of it. Removing Jesus Christ from every aspect of life is part of it. Dumbing down the schools is part of it. Taking over the media is part of it. Taking over the internet will be part of it. Discrediting the US Constitution is part of it. Discrediting the founders is part of it. Promoting homosexuality, promiscuity, filth, degradation, obscenity, and profanity is part of it. Lessening respect for human life by promoting abortion and assisted suicide is part of it. Taking over health care to control that part of your life is part of it. Creating a scenario where unemployment is high....but the "unemployment number" is low, is part of it.

Making all of these things the new norm....is a huge part of it!

Wake up. Smell the coffee. There are more rights that have been, are being, and will be taken away from you than your gun rights. If you focus on this one thing you miss the big picture. That is what the American left wants you to do....it is the way they have been dividing us for the better part of 50 years.

The leaders realize that they pretty much have four years to finish the job....looking at history they know that the next leader likely will not be a leftist. They are using the "mandate" they got on November 6 to push forward with a speed never before taken.

If you focus only on your gun rights you will miss what is happening.

Yea, I read about that ignorant excuse of a judge on Arkansas Carry, as it affects us here in AR. With blatantly stupid judges like him sitting on benches, it's no wonder that Arkansas still has a backwards, uneducated air about it.

Most of us (especially in Northwest Arkansas) would like to form our own statehood, as the politicized crap in Little Rock and the good ol' boy network there still exists. To Little Rock's credit, they have made vast improvements to their infrastructure and safety for their citizens, but a ham radio friend of mine says you may still hear auto gun fire in certain areas. Typical of most all metro areas in the U.S., unfortunately, so I'm not singling-out LR here.

Guy must be really old to have the same idea he had in NAZI germany in the thirtys, people like him have killed untold millions of people.

I can see this going over real well.....especially in Arkansas! I can see him not getting re-elected.
Seems to me like Barney Frank, Ted Kennedy, etc, etc were reelected time after time in your state after pretty much everything they said and did were stupid and embarrassing. And this clown will probably be reelected too. Most of the people who vote don't educate themselves enough to care what someone says or does.

Arkansas Constitutional Amendment 80, having taken effect on July 1, 2001, eliminated separate courts of law and courts of equity in Arkansas. Circuit courts are general jurisdiction trial courts. Effective January 1, 2002, circuit courts shall consist of five subject matter divisions: criminal, civil, probate, domestic relations, and juvenile. You can find contact numbers for all the circuit courts in the Link Removed.

Judicial candidates for circuit judge will now run in nonpartisan elections and are required to have been licensed attorneys in the state for six years preceding the date of assuming office. Circuit judges serve a six-year term.

Wendell Griffen is in District 5 He will be coming up for re-election.We'll see how long he's in office. Arkansas has a lot of zealot deer hunters. They won't like him jacking with our rifles!

The problem is that it's not that easy to find out what a judge's record is. This needs to be heavily circulated locally in the month or so prior to the election.

This once great nation is sliding into anarchy due to idiots like this judge and madame Feinstein. I have lost all confidence in our leaders, save a handful that seem to be pro 2nd amendment. Once the guns are gone, how long will it take them to strip us of all the other pesky Constitutional rights? Before you know it, we will be faced with the very real possibility of a 3rd term, 4th term, 5th term for our Dear Leader, after he and his mignons have repealed all the impediments to him only serving two tours. Keep in mind history. This heady group we have now are the most dangerous group of gangsters this country has ever faced. They are not held to account for anything, giving them the heady feeling they can do what they want with no consequences. Who will tell them they "can't" do that? We used to look to our media to keep these types of corrupt gangsters in check. Where can we look now? Answer is: Nowhere. Let them de-gun us to the point of Australia and the U.K. and see what they will do next. Do we want to let them push us into a situation like what happened in Ireland? The Northern Irish fought a long struggle against the British, even though they weren't allowed to have guns either, at least nothing that was a battle weapon. They managed to get them anyhow. Traitors were dispatched, even suspected traitors. Do we want our country to descend into that kind of situation, or worse? If we don't stand up and be counted now, we will let it happen. I encourage everyone to write your reps in DC, not just send an email. Emails are fine, but also you should write and keep it short too. Something in the first couple sentences like "Do you want to keep your job?" might get their attention, even though it's just interns and pages who actually read the mail. They do tally up the totals though, yea and nea, so it is worthwhile to make the effort. Phone calls should also be made. We cannot let the NRA or GOA and other gun rights groups do all the work on this one. This is serious now. It's so ridiculous it's beyond belief, except when you consider the real reason for the ban is to de-gun us in order to better control us. That's really got to be the only reason for it. I'm sure they can't be so stupid to think it's actually going to improve our personal security. If you believe that, I got a bridge to sell you. It's so crazy now, that my old Lee Enfield will be classified as a class 3 weapon if this passes, just because it has a detachable magazine! What Godly reason could they have to regulate a 70 year old WW2 bolt action rifle? It leaves me to imagine the worst. If any of you are NOT worried about this, I need to know what drugs you smoke. We may all have to make some hard decisions soon.

A LITTLE GUN HISTORY
In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. >From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were round
ed up and exterminated
In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.
China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated
Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million educated people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56 million.
You won't see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information.
Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.
Take note my fellow Americans, before it's too late!
The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of this history lesson.
With guns, we are 'citizens'. Without them, we are 'subjects'.
During WWII the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew most Americans were ARMED!
If you value your freedom, please spread this antigun-control message to all of your friends.
SWITZERLAND ISSUES EVERY HOUSEHOLD A GUN!
SWITZERLAND'S GOVERNMENT TRAINS EVERY ADULT THEY ISSUE A RIFLE.
SWITZERLAND HAS THE LOWEST GUN RELATED CRIME RATE OF ANY CIVILIZED COUNTRY IN THE WORLD!!!
IT'S A NO BRAINER!
DON'T LET OUR GOVERNMENT WASTE MILLIONS OF OUR TAX DOLLARS IN AN EFFORT TO MAKE ALL LAW ABIDING CITIZENS AN EASY TARGET.
Spread the word everywhere you can that you are a firm believer in the 2nd Amendment!

A LITTLE GUN HISTORY
SWITZERLAND HAS THE LOWEST GUN RELATED CRIME RATE OF ANY CIVILIZED COUNTRY IN THE WORLD!!!

They are "cloaking" this AWB, trying to convince the people that's it's all about controlling the crime, when in reality it's about controlling the "subjects". We are no longer free people, especially so if the 2nd amendment is decimated as they wish. Crime, mostly doesn't affect these gangsters as it might you and I, since they all can afford their own security, or in many cases have security (guys with guns) at govt expense. Only stupid people will continue to believe anything they tell us, in my opinion. I don't trust their motives because they don't make sense and have no basis in fact. Just look at all they've done in the last 10-12 years to see how they are following the Constitution. They aren't! We are being spied on now, as if we are the enemy. All that is left is to take away our abilities to defend liberty. Once that's done, it's going to be open season on us. One good thing about it is I'm now finally getting in to shape and losing weight, in case I have to take to the hills. :0

The bill has actually already been introduced, H.J. Resolution 15. Though to be fair, this exact same bill has been introduced by the same clown every year since Obama was elected.

Maybe that's the ticket? We all become security personnel for our clients, OURSELVES!
That way we can carry any weapon we wish, as they can.
Hmmm...needs more thought, I think...

You guys are missing the historical lesson here. This Judge is using references to current unconstitutional practices like registering your cars (YOUR property) and requiring you to have a drivers license to travel using the most modern means to prove it os ok to trample on the right to bear arms.

We sipped on the little violations a little at a time because they made us feel "safe". Now get ready for a big swig.

Maybe another generation will be born that doesn't only fight for rights when it affects them but will fight for the rights of others even if they don't agree with them.
