Sent an E-mail to Obama

I've never owned a firearm though I was in the military 40 years ago. 6 yrs ago I read a magazine about the 1911 and I've been interested since.
The nonsense from D.C. this year makes me wish a pistol + training was in my budget.
For the 1st time in my life I've started writing my senators & congressmen, state & US. But 2 weeks ago I sent the following E-mail to Obama & checked the reply box, (odd no reply yet) :

Far smarter men have preceded you:

George Washington 1st president -
"A free people ought not only to be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government."

Thomas Jefferson 3rd president -
"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."

Maybe you can cut out non essentials and save up? You can get some great deals on used guns. I'm trying to do the same. I'd love a Browning HiPower or Makarov, but don't have the extra cash.

Shortly after Obama was elected for the first time in 2008 I sent him an email informing him that he was fired and that he could clean out his desk and seek gainful employment in a field other than government.

Lot of good that did. He's still freeloading on our dollars.

Great first post! One of his subordinate lackeys probably round-filed the email when he/she read, "Far Smarter Men Have Preceded You".

It would have devastated the fragile ego of our C.I.C.

You're probably on a list now, like the rest of us! Outstanding!

Good luck finding a firearm and have fun!

That's right, welcome from the rest of us in the "list" club.

My favorit Benjamin Franklin quote.

Great first post. Hope to see more of you around the forums. Welcome!

"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither safety nor liberty." ~ Benjamin Franklin

Rygh,
I agree with what you say and I like the quotes that you posted. The guy in the White House thinks our Constitution is fundamentally flawed so I took some snippets from your quotes that our President probably does not believe are valid arguments.

"free people"
"be armed"
"status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them"
"which would include their own government."

"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms"
"Such laws make things worse"

I'm sure he believes all of these things are flaws of our founding fathers and should have never been in the Constitution to begin with and the sooner they can be removed the better off we will be.

The Jefferson quote isn't original wjth him, he was actually quoting from the well known essay, "Of Crimes and Punishments," by Cesare Bonesana.
