Self Defense Shield Insurance from US Concealed Carry Assn.

Has anyone had experience with the Self Defense Shield product that comes with a membership in the US Concealed Carry Association. It seems like a good idea on the surface. I just wonder if there are any reviews, referrals, etc to provide some assurance that it is legitimate.

Took my permit class this past weekend and will be dropping off the form at the Sheriff's office this week. The instructor of the class gave a very good overview of what to expect in the event that you are forced to defend yourself. Insurance really sounds like a good idea to cover legal costs and civil suits.

Please let me know if you have any information about this product/service.

Thank you,
Mike

I have it it basically help pay for for your lawyer fees and helps you find one if you done have one when you need it....they they recommend you find your own right off the bat....

Insurance companies are very good at getting the contracts out and collecting the yearly fees; they "tend" to be a bit more restrictive or "testy" when it comes to paying out monies and usually demand that you stand on your head to prove your case. Can depend on your state but in SC you are immune from civil suits for a "good shoot" that obviously means there were not criminal charges. If there were criminal charges, I would assume all this insurance is not worth the paper it is written on. I have no intention to do anything other than follow my intelligent and conservative presumption of the threat of imminent death or great bodily injury before I would even think of using my firearm. Anyone can sue these days is an easy reply to the intent of "immunity" under SC law, but when I couple the state law with the fact that in 71 years I have never even been in a situation that even required a rock, I think I will stick to my situational awareness and spend my money on more pleasurable activities, goods and services.

I have it but have been fortunate enough not to need it to this point.

I passed on getting this insurance, as I really believe it is not worth the money. Not in today's society.

I recently discovered a group called CCWSafe, (CCWSafe.com). I'm going to sign up for their program. $99/yr for an individual and $150 for a couple. It provides an attorney for any defensive use including something other than a gun. If a defense incident occures their legal team gets right to work. First thing you get is a top notch lawyer. They have their own legal team, but they also utilize lawyers affiliated with the Defense Research Institute Attorney Network if you need local representation. If an incident occurs you call their 800 number. An incident team immediately kicks into action. A lawyer immediately takes charge and a team of investigators is dispatched to your location to do their own investigation. Their investigators are heavy hitters. They even have their own M.E. They cover all legal representation, investigation, experts, and pretty much anything related to the incident. They dispatch the incident team because they also cover you for any civil action. Even if the police clear you, it doesn't mean you're not going to get sued. If the government tries to yank your permit, they provide a lawyer to represent you.

Law Enforcement and Military get a discount. $75/yr.

Terms and conditions are pretty leniant. You must have a valid CCW permit and they only cover you in states that your permit is valid in. You also won't be covered if you were blatantly committing a crime, (robbing a bank). But if your issue is self defense related, they're all in.

CCW Safe defends those who carry concealed against criminal, civil and administrative actions.

I got a 2 mil umbrella policy under my auto insurance for 22 bucks a month. I'd look at that option as well.

Be very careful that your umbrella policy actually covers shooting. You'd be surprised at what an umbrella policy that covers everything doesn't cover.

It covers me as long as I am not found guilty of a criminal act. I read it carefully. I hope in a SD shooting I'd be exonerated. No guarantees however. I live in MD. yech.

I have it and I think it's worthwhile. The best thing about it is that it's not insurance; it's money that can be granted to help handle financial burdens as a result of a self defense situation. Since it's not insurance, it doesn't have to be disclosed and won't be taken into consideration when someone is trying to sue you for everything you have.
