Hi everyone,
I just started carrying about two weeks ago. Currently I carry in condition 3, slowly working my confidence level up to condition 1.
It is not very often that I plan not carrying, but the occasional run to the post office or any other area that is a CPZ zone, I will need to disarm. I have purchased Link Removed from Amazon to place in my glove box.
Currently what I do is take the firearm from my IWB holster, and place the gun in the safe, and then lock it up. I keep the holster on me. When I begin to carry condition 1, is this the best practice? I was looking at one of three options:
1) Purchase a cheap, nylon holster just to have something to cover the trigger guard while the gun is in the safe.
2) Remove the round from the chamber before placing the gun in the safe.
3) Keep doing what I have been doing - keep the gun in condition 1 in the safe, and promptly re-holster when I can.
I'm worried that #2 is too much handling of the gun in a confined place, and some of my rounds may end up being re-chambered a few times.
What's my best route? I'm open to any other advice as well.
Thanks!
