Search & Seizure case in front of Supreme Court

In front of the Supreme Court this fall is a case where this cop took a blood sample from a suspect without his permission and with no warrant; don’t these cops know the basic principle of search and seizure?

Even if the federal government hasn't specifically addressed this in their laws, I know at least some states do.

In Colorado it is specifically written in law that you need permission from a court to collect blood, hair samples, saliva, etc.

In defense of the police, search and seizure is EXTREMELY complicated. It is not clear cut like many think. Every situation is different.

It's hard to imagine in what alternate universe, an invasive (and potentially dangerous) medical procedure such as taking a blood sample WOULDN'T require a warrant or court order of some kind.
