Scope for a S&W MP15-22

Folks,

I do a thursday night shooting competition at the local indoor range. I'm a newbie to rifles but I know enough to know I need a scope. I can't even see whats down range at 20' so I miss almost all of them.

So, what's a good scope, reasonably priced? Also, pretend I know nothing about this topic and you'll be right. Someone mentioned rings and so I ordered some onion rings but it didn't help my shooting.

Any help appreciated.

I have the Nikon P-22 BDC 150 on my 15-22. It's awesome!

I usually shoot indoors at 25 yds.
I put a set of flip up MBUIS with a BSA Red Dot on mine.

I second that Nikon as well I also use that scope but on a Ruger 10/22 takedown. They were made for the Ar platform.
