A very disturbing story is making its way out of a small community in Washington State, where parents are outraged over an extremely graphic school lesson that was delivered to their fifth-grade (11 year old) children.
During a 'sex education' class led by the Onalaska Elementary School principal, exremely graphic descriptions of how to perform both oral and anal sex were purportedly delivered.

WTF ever happened to teaching; 'Reading, Writing & Arithmatic??

That is so disgusting! Why can't they give those 5th graders more P.E. classes and more playtime than teaching them sexual activities and detailing the acts to those young minds? What relevance does it have to the usual reading writing and 'rithmetics??? Science or the start of it should be taught too! There are a lot of subject matters to teach young children but sex? Are they out of their minds???!?!?@?@#??$#?%??

to me that equates to child abuse by introducing children to that.. i would be suing the school there.. besides anything controversial like that should be approved beforehand by the school board and the parents...

wow 5th graders are much too young to even begin that kind of discussion with!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wtf???????????????????????????? i don't think that even needs to be discussed with any minor child by anybody parent teacher principal preacher anyone.....
sex should be a spontaneous and consensual act.
when people are ready for it i'm sure they will figure it out on their own imo nobody needs to 'teach' it

For a school principal to do this is akin to professional suicide. I wonder what the principal was thinking? There must be another side to this story? Brain tumor? Dimentia? What?

I remember being taught Sex Ed. in the 5th Grade also. It is a class I remember to this day and is important I believe in helping children grow. Learning about Menstrual Cycles, Erections etc early makes it easier on a child entering puberty and makes things less awkward to talk about down the road. I have no problem with giving children knowledge that will make their lives easier when certain topics in their life will eventually show up.

However, there is a line and this principal crossed it. I have no idea what was running thru his mind, but I hope the superintendent takes a good look at that persons past actions and makes the right decision in discipling that person.

Now Mom, you should know how dangerous it is for these kids to be at a playground. Besides someone might get the idea to play a game. That means the possibility of having winners and losers. Think of the damage to some poor kids psyche to lose a game. Obama promised fundamental changes to the American way of life. Don't need the three R's. Don't need a job. Government will take care of you. Think of the damage to any ones psyche when greedy corporate American takes advantage of them. With all the free time on their hands these kids can practice their sex ed. This will create more problems the liberal can campaign to fix. :sarcastic:

school is not a place to learn about sexual acts period! perhaps how the body works and all it's part and what their function is yes i agree but teaching the sexual act in detail is NOT and should not be taught at any school there is no need to do so imo
parents mothers should discuss menstruation and birth control to daughters and fathers teach about wet dreams and morning erections to their sons in an ideal situation
me being a single mom answered my sons questions as he asked them about certain things and i answered in general and generic manner about why he had semen on his sheets and why he woke up with an erection i didn't offer information until he asked...i gave him a handful condoms once when he was in his early teens, saying IF he did decide to do the wild thang he best use a condom and explained why. i knew i gave him enough information about std's and birth control and sexual responsibility to allow him to make his own wise and educated decisions concerning sexual relationships..he didn't use them to have sex but he and his friends filled them with water and threw them at each other rotflmao which i was glad he wasn't interested in sex at that age although i knew some boys might be....but i would never think to teach him how to make love or have sex as that is something i knew he would learn on his own with his partner of choice when he was ready and like most of us, learn on our own by trusting our feelings our bodies and the partner we choose to engage in such activities.....

I would think the hershey bar road is way over the double-double yellow line.

I suppose cunnilingis and felllashio are not that taboo in the 21st Century, but how early do little kids really nead to learn about it? Aren't there enough pregnant teens already? Or do we need more?

I'll second that! For the fourth of fifth time here.

You cant get around teaching about the birds and the bees and the snakes and snails and the hershey bar road forever though.

By the time my parents got around to the subject I already knew more than my mom and almost as much as my dad.

These kids in the class are going to graduate (hopefully) like many other kids today. Able to buy the condom, but if they are working the cash register to sell the condom and the computer does down, they will be unable to make change or calculate sales tax.

True, except most of them are needing condoms before they're graduated and working.

I worked as a public school teacher a few years back and I was surprised how much more open and active kids are about sex in just a generation from mine. It wasn't my place to teach them, but I also wasn't going to sit back and let them do stupid crap. I let them know, in the most scientific and objective way possible, that things like drinking and doing drugs and sleeping with strangers every weekend was not a good idea. The condom is not a guarantee. It is far from infallible. It might be their parents' job, but their parents sure weren't doing it.

There's also an entire generation out there who thinks it's OK to have anal and oral sex because it still makes you a "technical" virgin and keeps you from getting pregnant. It's as if STD education doesn't exist anymore.

Mostly I'd joke with them, tell them to wait for college, tell them it isn't even fun at their age because they don't know what the heck they're doing anyway.

Yeah, the principal was way over the line (in my experience principals have ZERO business teaching in the first place), and sex ed REALLY doesn't need to be a "How-to" class; BUT there needs to be some education involved for these kids, whether it's coming from the parents or the health class.

Oh, and yes, this was a bit young, I think.

Being a father of three girls, my initial reaction is i would kick the %^\>\% out of the teacher! But clearly this would send the wrong message to my kids.. My next action would be to call my lawyer.. It's not the school/teachers responsibility to discuss this with my kids! Need to stop before I pop a blood vessel..

I've taught high school for the past five years, and middle school for five years before that. I can tell you these kids are having sex, getting pregnant, and passing STD's. I've never seen a pregnant fifth grader, but I have seen sevetal pregnant sixth graders. While teaching about sex may be a parental responsibility, it just isn't happening in the home. Learning about this stuff in schools might be the only place they get honest, accurate information, which they need if they're going to be able to make informed decisions regarding their own sexuality. Just my two cents.

I don't trust the schools with honest and accurate information. They teach that Woodrow Wilson was a good president, and "Silent Cal" didn't do anything. I think I'll stick to home schooling and deciding what and when my kids learn since schools can't even give good info on presidents.

our schools are nothing but conditioning and brainwashing buildings anymore it seems pointing our nations youth in the wrong directions
i forgot who said this but it's so true

''education system destroy knowledge
medical system destroys health
religious institutions destroy spirituality
governments destroy freedoms.......''
something like that anyways unfortunately the truth in our society today

I hope this "School Principal" gets sent to prison where he can have first class experience.
May he have a roommate that loves him often.
