SC & AL reciprocity

Hello everyone, thanks in advance for any help/information provided.
I’m taking a road trip and will be traveling through AL. I have a SC CWP and would like to know if I can carry in that state. According to SLED there’s no reciprocity: Link Removed

From what I’ve read online, AL honors all permits but I couldn’t find anything published by their state government and wanted to be sure

The answer is right in front of you. Simply look at the top of this page. Click on "Concealed Carry Resources" then "Concealed Carry Maps", select your state and type of permit and it will display which states honor your permit.

There is no reciprocity agreement between SC and AL, so therefore, SC's is the wrong page to look to for *the* answer to your question. AL's page on this site's info-by-state sub-forum says this under the heading of "Changelog:"

"8/1/2013 – Updated maps to reflect that Alabama accepts all other state’s permits."

8/1/2013 is the day that the all-states reciprocity law went into effect. It's still in effect, so therefore, yes, as long as you have a permit from SC (or any other state), you can carry while here. (Alternatively, if your state has varying levels of permits that don't allow you to conceal carry, open carry is legal here without a permit as long as you're not prohibited from owning and/or possessing guns.)

I highly recommend you familiarizing yourself with AL's carry laws, notification law, restrictions etc. before coming here (available in summary form at the above link). You'll probably find that they are less restrictive and/or put fewer burdens on carriers than most other states, but you should know what they are in any event.

Enjoy your stay here.
