My brother has an old Savage Mod. # 750 semi-auto shotgun.
It's in good condition but there are some questions .
It has a select choke & I think it's faulty. The detent seems to be worn out on it.
He wants to shoot rifled slugs through it, but I'm concerned about the choke, not opening up properly.
I've done some searching, & it looks like any parts for this gun are long gone.
Any comments or suggestions will be appreciated.

I dont think any choke is physically smaller than the barrel. I think it just redirects gas pressure rather than acting like a funnel.

I wouldn't bet that the choke, if stuck in any position, would be larger than the bore, even a full choke. Take the gun to a reputable gunsmith and seek their advice. It's not worth the injury to try to fire a slug out of it, and find the improved cyl setting in place and the gun has a catastrophic malfunction.
