Looks like some conflicting information being reported in the media based off the police department reports...take a look and make your own decision.

However, even if Martin attacked Zimmerman first, Martin's attack would be considered justified "stand your ground", as Martin was being followed by a larger man in a threatening manner! Plain and simple: Zimmerman escalated beyond reasonable self-defense or "stand your ground" status as soon as he followed Martin to close range.
I participate in Neighborhood Watch, and I am nearly always armed. I have called police to report suspicious activity before, and I have followed suspicious persons before. But *ALWAYS* at distance - and the most I have shot with is a camera. Neighborhood Watch is *NOT* law enforcement. If a suspicious person ever turned to confront me, I would retreat. By following, I would be the one escalating, so I would retreat unless the suspicious person drew a distance-range weapon. (I make sure to stay well out of close-range, even thrown/pepper spray/taser, weapon range.)

I thought GZ was retreating back to his vehicle...do you have evidence saying otherwise?

phone number please! The Tampa Bay Tribune has reported that Governor Scott has selected an Anti Gun Committee to see if the Stand Your Ground Law should be repealed or not. Everybody that believes in the Second Admendment should call Governor Scotts office and let them know that the Travon Marton case should not set the example because one bad incident does not over rule the ammount of good stuff that the Stand Your Ground Rule does for the law abiding citizens.
I have a question? Everyone seems to have forgotten that the Martin kid was trespasing on the private propety of a gated community. He was being followed to make sure he didn't do anything wrong while he was trespassing outside of the fact that he was trespassing. I'm not saying trespassers should be shot but it is reasonable to watch them. If they then attack you and have you down on the ground beating your head against it, you should have a right to defend yourself. The part that makes me angry is if the races in this incident were reversed, it would have blown over by now.
