Sailing/Cruseing

Has anyone made the Great North America Loop? I have a Georgia Weapons permit which is fine for the southern and western parts of the loop, but I'm not sure about NY state, Illinois and the northern section of the loop.

I stopped planning a trip with my wife, pulling our RV, to drive to St John's, because of the ignorant gun laws in the states we'd have to pass through, and the fact that we would be illegal in Canada.
It seems that we truly are "no longer free" men.
If you really want to make that trip and stay safe from law enforcement, leave your gun at home. If you want to make that trip and stay safe... you can't.
JMO. :(

Well this information confirms what I have been told by others. That's sad. I thought a year cruising the Great Loop, getting to see this country's hart land, meeting its' people was just what the Dr. Ordered but I will not go unarmed, so I will just change my plans. After all there are a lot of other places to go where Cruisers are not hasseled about such things.
Looks like it might be time to go south. I haven't been to Rio yet.

Looks like you are good if you go South or West. I had little trouble with a shotgun in Europe and the Caribbean except Barbados where they kept my shotgun till I left. I think a pistol would have been another issue.
