It is a sad, but true statement. Yet, unfortunately, as our Forefathers predicted, this would happen. People today say that they could not understand how the world would evolve.
Well, the more things change, the more they stay the same. Our Founders may not have been able to forsee or predict changes in technology and communication, but there are a couple of constants. One constant is the desire of man to obtain more power for himself. The 3 branches of our government was to postpone the power grabs as long as possible. However, the other constants overcome. Laziness, lack of education, and trust contribute to the slow demise. People stop focusing on education and history, thus it repeats. That lack of education leads to laziness in keeping up to date on the issues we face. And finally, we mistakenly trust that all have good intentions and that our leaders are looking out for our best interests. No, they are only looking out for their best interest, and how they can accumulate more power. The way they accomplish that is by dumbing down education, which perpetuates the cycle.
By using "our" above, it is a generalization of the American people, and does not apply to everyone. I think there are those of us here that no better, so please do not think that my comments apply to all, just the majority of those who care more about what this country can do for them, instead of what they can do for this country.
I just hope we still have time to take this country back and make it as great as our Forefathers intended.
