i am over the moon that s308 passed the senate with ease without any anti-gun amendments. can't wait to start carrying in restaurants without issue.

well keep waiting....still has to go back to the house, then hopefully no issues...then committee as i understand it...then the governor's desk. there is already a thread on s308 in the SC section.

It Ha been returned to the House. If the House votes to accept the Senate amendments then it will go to Haley for her signature. If the House does not accept the Senate amendments then it will go to committee. I expect the House to accept it as returned by the Senate and Haley to sign it. Very possible that it can be complete by the end of next week.

now all we need to do is get s115 ( constitutional carry ) passed and i'll be the happiest gun owner in the state. it will be a tough road though.

It will be but at least our Governor is on-board and has announced her support of Constitutional Carry.

**** WARNING SOAPBOX ****

SC was not a pro-gun state; don't know how people ever got the impression SC was pro-2A.
If you weren't connected, law enforcement, or Caucasian, SC was very anti-2A.

Wonder if there is a link to the fact that SC had all Democratic Governors from 1876 to 1975.
South Carolina has come a long way in the last 18 years when it comes to every South Carolinian rights (guns/defense).
Personally I believe it is due to the removal of many Democrats and RINOs like Jake Knotts.

***** from 1876 to 1994 Democrat controlled State Assembly (both Houses) *****
Gov. Beasley (R) in 1996 repealed the SC "may issue" and signed into law "shall issue".
***** Democrat Governor until Sanford *****
Gov. Sanford (R) in 2004 repealed the 1 handgun per month law
Gov. Sanford (R) in 2006 passed the "Castle Doctrine" and "Stand your Ground"
Gov. Haley (R) in 2012 repealed melting point law, pistol dealer state permits/bonds, contiguous state long gun purchases
Gov. Haley (R) in 2014 passed Restaurant Carry

Just to recap S308:

CWP holders get to CC in restaurants that serve alcohol for consumption, unless the your are not welcome sign is posted.
CWP is extended to 5 years.
CWP holders get to stow a weapon under their car seat or in an open or closed compartment on the passenger side.

I don't like this section though, In a station wagon, van, hatchback vehicle, truck, or sport utility vehicle, the term 'luggage compartment' refers to the area behind the rearmost seat." My truck has a flip down rear seat, no way in heck can I stow my weapon behind that seat.

Am I missing anything?

Does a gun magnet mounted under the driver seat count?

passage, ". If the person has been issued a concealed weapons permit pursuant to Article 4, Chapter 31, Title 23, then the person also may secure his weapon under a seat in a vehicle, or in any open or closed storage compartment within the vehicle's passenger compartment; or"

IMHO, a magnet should secure the weapon.

I was looking for under the seat holsters, suggestions?

re-read that snippet you posted...it doesn't say "passenger's side". "open or closed storage compartment within the passenger compartment" to me would mean an open glove box or center console...possibly a drink compartment on the door.
