S & W Shield or Bodyguard?

I'm looking for a better conceal carry to have. My brother being a police officer has the 380 bodyguard for his off duty and I loved it. But I also am digging the shield except for the fact that I heard about the recall on them. Any help to deciding would be much grateful. Thanks

I'd go for the M&P Shield, but they're SOLD OUT everywhere I look. And I don't want to pay more than what the gun's worth.

Have you looked at the Walther PPS in 9mm. Produced by S&W, and I believe the Shield was designed with similar look & feel. I use Hornady Critical Duty ammo, and it shoots accurate groups. It's comfortable with Crossbreed IWB. Nice and thin, even with a polo shirt tucked in; It doesn't print. It's one of my most favorite.

I don't own either, but I have the LCP, the body guard wasn't out when I bought it but I'd have gone that route.

I'm actually considering adding the Shield, I haven't heard about the recall so that may factor in. But if I didn't own either, I'd go with the Body Guard first. I love the smaller size and ease of carry. You can just slip it in your pocket and go. If you have the Shield or anything larger, you are dressing around it. You will always have the .380 with you.

Good Luck with your choice.

I have the Bodyguard. It goes in a wallet holster in a back pocket every time I leave the house. Takes as much space as a wallet.

I bought a M&P 40 that I carried IWB CrossBreed holster, it carries well but a bit heavy on a long day. 6 months ago I bought M&P Shield also a 40. It is a pleasure to carry, shoots like a dream, has a excellent trigger. Onr more bit of info: I took my wife out to teach her and let her fire the Shield. She had never fired a pistol before and did very well with shot placements and she did not complain about the recoil at all. Just my 2 cents.

I have an XDSC40, Walther PP .32 and a Bodyguard .380. When I carry an wear clothing that easily concealls I use my XD. When I need something really small I carry my Bodyguard

I wanted a Shield but as you probably know they are as scarce as a Mermaid riding a Harley. My second choice was a Springfield XDs. I found a local shop that had a Shield for display only and also had an XDs. In comparing the two:
1. I find the Shield ergonomics slightly better than the XDs. Both are thin, about 1". The XDs is about 2.5 ounces heavier.
2. The Shield has a slightly better trigger but not by much. The take up was about the same on both. The striker released somewhat better on the Shield but no grittyness in either. The reset was great on both.
3. The Shield has a thumb safety while the XDs has a trigger safety much like the Glock system. The XDs also has a grip safety. I like both systems about the same.
4. The biggest difference: Shield is 9mm while the XDs is .45 ACP. The Shield has of course somewhat less recoil but the XDs recoil is not unpleasant (more of a push than a sharp punch).
5. Regards the XDs .45 in such a light gun. Physics demands a firm grip to provide the mass necessary to return the slide to battery. A "limp wrist" will result in failure to chamber on the XDs.
6. The XDs inherent accuracy tests out slightly better than the Shield.
7. Since the Shield is not available I bought the XDs and love it so far. However, I'm still on the waiting list for the Shield.

I have the shield 40 S&W, disappointed it did not have interchangeable back strap. I have small hand/short fingers so it is a little big for fast and easy one hand mag release. Other than that, I love it. It comes with extended mag in addition to smaller mag. I like the Beretta Px4 storm with the rotating barrel tech, though I have not fired it. A couple of people firing it, liked it. The Beretta sub compact was ok, but I would opt for the storm feel, grip, balance with different sized black strap. Buy them both :) and have fun at the range.

I have both the Shield 9mm and the Bodyguard 380. I carry the Shield 90% of the time. I only carry the Bodyguard when my apparel doesn't permit me to conceal the Shield. The Shield is simply a better shooter. It gives me 2 extra rounds with more punch. I'm more comfortable with the Shield in terms of recoil, grip, and accuracy.

I have the .380 BG and I can carry it with anything on, shorts and T, dress slacks, etc.
Carries nice in a pocket holster, and is easy to 'present' if required.
Carries easy on the ankle (any weight there can really present problems if spending much time walking etc) and I have relatively small hands so I don't even use the finger-hook mag base, so it doesn't 'print' at all.
Also, 'disapears' in a small on the waist cross-carry holster under a partially open shirt and therfore easy to access when seated (driving/out to dinner).
Obviously, not the biggest caliber in the bunch, but at 5-10 feet (most likely deployment) I would suspect that it can get the job done, and you'll likely have it with you.
I used it in a IDPA 'bug' match and it was easy to shoot one handed, and just about as easy to speed reload as a full size auto.
I'm diggin' it!
Good luck with your decision, and Semper Fi

S & W Shield or Bodyguard?

LCP for ultra small and have the 9mm Shield. Shield is a great shooter but sometimes the LCP is as big as I can get away with. Lots of good options out there.

If you can afford both, go for it. It is always nice to have options. Two cars in the family garage, Pet dog and cat. Hey, if you can have two homes in great areas, more power to you. You don't depend on one flashlight for blackouts, I have 3, I have candles for light - it makes sense.
