COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Authorities in South Carolina have arrested an 18-year-old high school senior accused of plotting to bomb his school.
Officials say Ryan Schallenberger detailed the plot in a hate-filled diary that included maps of Chesterfield High School and notes of admiration about the Columbine killers.
Police say Schallenberger was arrested Saturday after his parents found the journal and after 10 pounds of ammonium nitrate was delivered to their home. The same chemical was used in the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing.
Police say Schallenberger also had an audio tape explaining why he wanted to bomb his school, and wanted it to be played after he died.
The school principal says Schallenberger was one of the top students at the school and hadn't caused any serious problems before.
He's being held in jail, with a bail hearing scheduled for Monday.
