Running

Was just wondering how many of you all run and if you do how do you carry your gun when running. I am wanting to carry when I run as soon as my license gets here.

Kel Tec P3AT w/ Belt clip IWB; Permit on a string around my neck.

Weight is not noticed after about three steps. Just don't pull your shirt up to wipe your face if the sun has come up during the run.

Right now I have a Springfield xds to carry so that will be to heavy probably but I did read some where that people were using a belly band thing when running

I do have a Belly Band. It's not my preferred way to carry as I am more accustomed to more traditional type holsters, but it does have its uses if you need deep conceal. However, one comment about wearing it while exercising is that you will be sweating a lot. The Belly Band will get soaked with sweat and, therefore, so will your gun.

I would recommend an IWB tuckable type holster, especially something like Kholster makes. It is a leather backing with a kydex holster attached and clips onto your pants from the inside. I've actually worn this with pajama pants and it stayed where it was supposed to. Here's a link to Kholster's site: Kholster Holsters 314-669-5780

Might sound dumb but I use suspenders and a clip on holster under my sweat shirt. Works for me

remora.com Good price around $25 - $30 and great service. I had some questions and the owner, Allan, called me back on a Sat. For jogging I picked.. non tuckable with full sweat shield this worked well for me. This holster works best right next to skin with good tension because body heat helps the tackiness. Hard running could bounce the gun in the holster but I had Allan custom stitch one tighter for me....works great. It is getting out of hand with different holsters/manufacturers LOL every season and circumstance. (up to 6) looking at King Tuk now!

I have this thing called a Spi-belt that has an expandable pouch. I bought it several years ago in order to hold my keys, ID and cash for those organized 5k's that have a beer garden at the finish. For daily runs I just clip an LCP onto it. And no I'm not packing at the beer garden...I figure the likelyhood of anyone mugging a bunch of sweaty people with no wallets is slim.

Ok guys everyone is very funny but on a serious note. Do a search for "Sarah Hart murder in Jamestown,ky" and you will understand why the question. This was in my town and on the route that we run. It just makes you think it could happen at any time and you never know when.

It wasnt funny what happened to her,lot of differences, weight 120 pregnant, attacker 190 strangled her, after the run on the walk back to her car meeting him as he was a walker as well on or by the road which normally has some traffic. He was looney bins, not a normal robber etc.
Change your running schedule to include when people are normally present, and should one member quit all quit, her sister kept on running ,to which most likly will forever haunt her.
If you feel you must pack while running the light plastic 6 oz-10 oz pistols fit the bill many have a clip p3 coming to mind or small holster with a retention strap.
She put up a fight had she much of anything pepper spray etc but while running you tend not to carry much ie added weight.
Had the sister shown some care stopped as well walked back with her, doubt if he would have attacked two women.
But finishing her run was more important than her pregnant sister. If I seem harsh,it is because those that have take for granted,I have no brothers or sisters and surely would give to them what we would give freely to a stranger in need.
In her case it wasnt so much she didnt have a gun but became isolated,of her own doing but avoidable and ran into a whaco.

I typically run with a camelbak and I carry my CM9 in a holster tucked into a sewn in loop inside. Not the easiest place to get to but it is on me. I am looking for a .380 that I can carry with a clip or with the defense strut system. I also like the idea of using Smartcarry at 3 o'clock. Just in the terms of weight I feel my 9mm would bounce too much and I would prefer the .380.
