RUGER'S NEW 9e SEMI-AUTOMATIC

Interesting, here is the full comparison chart. The main differences between the SR9E and SR9 are:

- $429 list price, instead of $529
- fixed instead of adjustable sights
- one instead of two magazines
- no magazine loader
- no case
- traditional visual inspection port, instead of loaded chamber indicator
- alloy steel slide / blued finish, instead of stainless steel slide / brushed stainless finish or alloy steel slide / black nitride finish

Here in virginia we buy the sr series for 399 retail. I have 3 sr pistols. The 9e looks huge with a 7.5 inch barrel. It also looks like they put bevel cuts on the slide to mimic a pk380. Anyhow Ruger makes a great pistol. I might have to look into it.

Oh yes, the 9e is considered to be a full size gun, whereas the SR9 is a midsize, and the SR9C a compact.

I have both SR9 and LC9 love both but the SR is a really nice firearm to shoot. Great balance!
My girls are much better with it. The weight and price of the 9e may be the right fit.

The 9e looks great for HD or at the range but, IMHO, the versatility of the SR9c would be hard to beat. I have two P95, one SS and one Blue, and I love shooting both. I will find a SR9c, one that I can afford, as I believe it would be a better CC. Maybe a trade would be desirable. Right now I carry the SS P95 in a Fobus paddle. It carries 'alright' but I get a little printing from that stock. I like the smaller stock with the SR9c and the 10rd Mag. No problem carrying the larger mag. as back-up.
Today I tried my first Aluminum 9mm FMJ (Federal) from Walley World. Empty shell weight was: Brass=4.40 gms. vs Alum=1.88 gms. No problem in the P95s, of coarse they'll eat anything. I like the idea of less weight and I don't reload. At 10 bucks a box, I like. Has anyone tried the Alum. Federal rounds in the 9e?
