Hey guys, im interested in any feedback any one might have on this gun. I put one on layaway a few days ago, and feel i made a great selection, but i still havnt shot one. Is it a good 1911?

I have a friend that recently acquired one, my initial impression was favorable as to overall fit and finish. However upon doing a function test the thumb safety failed. Still waiting for a new thumb safety to fit so we haven't ha a chance to shoot to yet.

Have been very happy with mine. Grip safety rattles a little but a minor adjustment to the Sear Spring will take care of that.

What minor adjustment did you do? I just bought one (literally like an hour ago) and LOVE the fee of it compared to any other 1911 I've held. Seems no different quality from a Kimber. I just noticed that the grip safety rattles a bit and doesn't seem to have a very stiff spring on it compared to what I'm used to.

It is basically making a gentle bend in the sear spring. Take a look at
. Or find a qualified gunsmith. Regardless, do a little at a time and TEST TEST TEST. Hope that helps.

I LOVE my SR1911, as stated, GO RUGER! She's a sweet shooter. Get a Proper belt and holster and carry this beauty.

Chip McCormic 8 round flush mount mags are also the way to go.

Stretched out my spring and it's a lot better now. No looseness. I think I'm gonna get me a Serpa CQC holster cause I might make it a part time duty gun.

Oh and also, the main thing about this gun I don't like is the grips that come on it make the gun about 4 1/2 feet wide. I'm looking into getting a pair of hogue G10 grips, and that make wide, normal, and narrow grips. What would these be considered? Anybody ever measure them? If these are wide then I may wanna go normal but if these are normal I may wanna go with the narrows.

Link RemovedI have small hands and I find the grips to be great.
I added some Pierce grips and its Excellent.

I just prefer the thinner grips since that's what I got use to with my Taurus, and I'm also a thinner person so when I concealed carry I like my guns to be as concealable as possible. I held it up next to my Taurus and the grips are HUGE compared to it.

Anybody have any pics of mods or anything they've done to their SR1911? I just ordered a set of Hogue G-10 Piranha all black 3/16" grips for mine. Thinking about having it duracoated entirely in the flat tactical black to murder it out.

I just got the CMD. What a beautiful gun. A real pleasure to shoot.
I put on a set of Hogue wraparounds in black, like the contrast of
black with the stainless.

Dang, I thought the existing grips were too thick. Those hogues just take it to a whole new level lol. I did the Hogue G10 Piranha thins in black.

Guess it's a matter of preference. They feel great to me. I do have big hands. Thin grips just don't feel right to me.

Yup, the CMD is a beautiful gun & a pleasure to shoot. No mods for me, sweet just the way it is.
