Ruger LCP as a primary or secondary carry gun.

I'm a revolver guy so far, but have seen and held the LCP at a recent gun show. The size interests me as a possible primary or secondary carry gun at times. I know they are fairly popular, so I am interested in your experiences.

I use it as a second or third backup while in duty and as a primary when I feel like it. Especially in the summer months. I have a holster that holds the 2nd mag and always keep it hot so capacity ain't bad and I could hopefully make it to my vehicle if needed

Very concealable

My wife carries the LCP as her primary carry and loves it. One of the most concealable options out there. Good luck.

I carry one in my front pocket in the summer, get's hot up here in Mi. Have had mine for a couple years now, & I have no complaints. Goes bang every time.
Don't worry about penetration, because every one else is dressed in light clothes too.
Would I carry it in the winter when every one is wearing thick coats & such? Only as a bug, & I have done that many times also.
Even with a pocket holster, no one will ever know you're carrying.

Lcp

I carry it as my primary in summer unless dressed up. It disappears very nicely in front pocket of my slacks and/or in my hand made mini tuck I made (looks like a crossbreed micro/mini tuck) In the winter I use it as my BUG. I can hit paper at 25 yards every shot. It does have a different feel shooting and it does take a box or so to get used to it, at least compared to my Glock 26. I highly recommend it, and I have 3 other friends that own one as well and all love it!! FUN to shoot

The Ruger LCP is an excellent option. It fits in a pants pocket and a jacket pocket. It's very easy to conceal. I have the Crimson Trace laser on mine because the sights suck. It's accurate and I feel comfortable having it as my primary ccw weapon during the summer. In the winter I'll carry it as my backup. I use Hornady Critical Defense ammo in it and they work great.

While the lcp is a very nice gun, it can be a little snappy to shoot, a lot of muzzle rise. At least in my experience, my x and i put in upwards of 3 hundred rounds through it together. The gun fits like a glove, and i wouldn't differ in opinion from the comments you have here. Anytime you can wear something bigger (winter), go bigger however as a primary in a hot summer i think it would do just fine within a very close self defense situation.

Hi, I looked at the LCP, but went with a KelTec p32 because it held one more round, was a little cheaper, and seemed to have fewer problems with "kick" since it was a .32. My friend uses his all the time when he carries.

I use my p32 all the time and it is perfect. I have both the clip (which can be installed on an LCP with a bit of fudging) and the Desantis Nemesis pocket holster. Disappears completely, you forget it's there. No excuse not to have it with you. I'm going to put CT lasers on it later in the next month or so because the sights are way to low profile and besides, in a self defense situation, I'm looking at the target rather than the sights!

Desantis has a holster for cargo pockets that will hold an extra mag as well. Just an FYI for the guys that are leery of capacity or want a way to carry in cargo pocket.
